Job Summary:
Pars, picks, distributes supplies and equipment in support of department goals, objectives, and to assure optimal patient care is provided. Responds immediately to daily supply and equipment requirements. Completes documents and accurately works within inventory management software. Performs receiving and shipping of all material including verification of material and quantity to purchase order specification, inspection for visible damage or shortage. Accurately processes related documents into system and dispatches material to proper destination.
Job Duties:
- Picks and packs pharmaceuticals, supplies, and/or equipment orders from hand-held devices, hard copy pick-lists, phone and walk-up requisitions.
- Breaks down all incoming stock.
- Stocks department shelves.
- Assures all items are in their assigned areas.
- Separates and stages deliveries for departments as assigned.
- Packs and ships outbound materials as assigned.
- As applicable, completes requisitions as necessary, to ensure proper documentation, patient charging and inventory control.
- Maintains logs and other charts as required.
- Utilizes computers and handheld devices in managing remote inventories.
- Receives incoming shipments.
- Inspects all containers for visible damage.
- Compares packing list against purchase order.
- Contacts buyer if there is variance in the shipped quantity or location cannot be determined.
- Reports shortages/damages and other discrepancies and files claims for damages etc, as assigned.
- As assigned, prepares exception reports on any discrepancies received, faxes exception reports to buyer and files with packing slips, researches discrepancies and documents.
- Receives sensitive, sometimes hazardous materials including, medical gases, volatile or explosive material, acids and corrosives, and chemotherapy products.
- Adheres to safety and related procedures in handling and storage of such items to ensure employee, product, and facility safety.
- Understands and properly completes forms for the receipt of controlled drugs; stores controlled drugs according to proper security procedures as assigned.
- Assists in developing and altering supply locations including PAR builds.
- Assists in the creation and assembly of containers and labels for each item location.
- Performs weekly and yearly cycle counts of inventory.
- Upon notification of product recall form department leadership, investigates all inventories locations for effected product as assigned, removes product, replaces with unaffected product and stages affected product for return to vendor.
- Maintains all work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Observes and promotes fire prevention and safety practices.
- Follows all infection control policies.
Work is typically performed in a warehouse/maintenance or office environment; may require performance of work within clinical areas. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to reach above head, bend, push, pull, stoop and kneel. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
