Summary of Job Duties:
As a Transplant Procedure Technician, you will play a crucial role in the organ transplantation process, ensuring that all aspects of organ recovery, preparation, and transportation are executed with precision and adherence to regulatory standards. Your responsibilities will include coordinating logistics for offsite organ procurements, assisting in the operating room during organ recovery, and operating specialized perfusion equipment. You will work closely with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes, maintain equipment, and ensure seamless communication between all parties involved. Additionally, you will be responsible for data management and compliance with UNOS regulations, contributing to the overall success of the transplant program.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Anatomy and Physiology or related field OR High School diploma/GED plus 4 years of experience in patient care/healthcare area of work to be performed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience and or a Licensed Practical Nurse


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all aspects of the recovery process are performed to optimal levels in adherence with regulatory policies and organizational procedures. 

  • Arranging all logistics for team transport for offsite liver and pancreas procurement, including flight, ground transportation and necessary supplies, equipment, and tools for the procurement of the organ.

  • Travel with and assist in the OR for the procurement, preservation, packaging and transportation of the organ for liver and pancreas.

  • Communicate directly with surgeons during the procurement to optimize the recovery. 

  • Maintain ongoing communication with the UAMS hospital staff, physicians, donor organizations and transplant team regarding donor OR and donor status during offsite procurements to ensure streamlined patient care.

  • Complete quality assurance checks for machines used in organ donation.

  • Assist surgeons with kidney and liver machine perfusion.   

  • Assist the surgeons with all solid organ preparation as required.  

  • Other duties as assigned.
