Job description

We believe that small development teams, with a high level of autonomy in their work, are best suited to solve the complex problems our industry is provided with. We also believe collaboration and empathy towards others are necessary to reach the collective intelligence we need to succeed. Finally, and most importantly, we understand that it is our people, not the technology we use, that is the decisive factor whether our work becomes a success or not. If you share our beliefs and really like backend development - we think you should apply!
We are now looking for a...

Software Engineer – Backend

At SKF, we make movement possible with the least amount of energy consumed, and with the lowest amount of friction. Our expertise spans more than 40 industries, providing clients with an array of technology solutions including bearings and units, seals, lubrication systems, condition monitoring, and comprehensive services.

The challenging, rewarding, and fun problems we face in our industries are too complex to be solved by a handful of individuals. It is only as a team that we can succeed in our department’s mission to develop a new ecosystem for our next generation of condition monitoring solutions. The end goal of our solutions is to provide actionable insights based on machine data to make industrial machines run longer, which positions us at the center of turning SKF’s strategy of intelligent and clean growth into reality.

Your day-to-day work

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and improve software together with your team members – both in cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Brainstorm, share insights, and collectively solve complex problems.
  • Do code reviews with your peers.
  • Closely collaborate with other software or hardware teams.
  • Work with product owners, architects, and UX designers to meet technical requirements.

Some of the tools in your toolbelt could be
Golang, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes

We expect you to have

  • A university degree, or equivalent working experience. Field of study: Computer science or related field.
  • Work experience from a similar role where you gained solid knowledge in backend coding and problem-solving.
  • Experience working in multiple programming languages.
  • No problem articulating yourself in English.

You will enjoy working at SKF if…
You prefer a working environment where teamwork, autonomy, trust, and getting things done are highly valued. We are at the beginning of an exciting journey, and building complex products is not straightforward. Therefore, you must be comfortable coping with some level of uncertainty. We also see a curious mindset and a strong willingness to learn our domain, the products we build, and the environment we operate in, as a success factor to thrive in our department.

We offer

  • A healthy work-life balance with the possibility of doing some work from home/remotely.
  • A bonus program.
  • Great development opportunities. Your motivation and ambition will be the driver for your growth – we will help you along the way.
  • Health care allowance, parental pay & occupational pension.
  • Free access to Kristinedal’s training center (SKF-owned gym facilities).
