Position Description:

Manages and ensures the success of a large number of events of all sizes for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities’ Team Members and community stakeholders. Events include fundraising events, Learning & Development events, board events, and team building retreats. This position will also be a major contributor to the collaboration of the Events Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

FinancialSustains growth through financial stewardship & fiscal responsibility.

  • Responsible for all logistic, administrative, financial, and operational details of event management, from conception through post-event wrap up.  This includes the coordination, organization, and evaluation of services for events, as well as negotiating contracts with vendors.
  • Responsible for coordinating with sponsors and organizing committees in regards to scope and format of events, agendas, monitoring budgets, and reviewing administrative procedures and event progress.

Customer & CommunityCollaborates with customers to understand and deliver customer’s needs & expectations.

  • Creates reports and correspondence related to management and delivery of events.
  • Works with all levels of leadership, teams, volunteers, and vendors in a professional manner.
  • Functions as a major contributor to various projects and collaboration efforts.

Operational ExcellenceImplements strategies to maximize resources and infrastructure.

  • Plans events such as Learning & Development events, board events, and team building retreats.  Supervises and coordinates with supervision of event volunteers and support staff required for events.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes related information.
  • Uses discretion on when to start or stop using vendors and venues. Responsible for purchasing and vendor decisions in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
  • Oversees and manages vendors on-site.
  • Responsible for large events and therefore needs to be available at any given time.
  • May coordinate or design the material needed to publicize events and promote sponsorship.
  • Travels to events and transports supplies, packages and other materials.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in, Marketing, Communications, Business or another related field preferred.
  • At least 1-3 years’ of progressively greater levels of responsibility in the field of event management.
  • Must have 2-3 years’ experience in high volume event activity with a large employer.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills, including news, business and persuasive writing.
  • Must be able to multi-task and simultaneously manage multiple, complex projects as well as switch between long-range strategic planning and last-minute projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills including proven effectiveness in one-on-one, group communications and media relations.
  • Strong history of quickly building relationships, gaining credibility and partnering with department leaders and peers.
  • Strong organizational and detail orientation skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must have valid Driver’s license with clean MVR.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.
