Join Ciena as a dynamic Senior Financial Analyst who thrives on change and embraces continuous improvement. As the Financial Analyst supporting IT and other corporate functions, you will leverage technology to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for organizational leaders. You will influence senior executives, help guide our transformative IT and FP&A journey, while delivering meaningful business analysis. Shape long-term strategic plans, budgets, metrics, and business cases for key initiatives. Be part of our innovative team and make a real impact.

Strategy and Strategic Plan:
  • Contribute to the development of the financial models to support the 3-year global strategic plans
  • Partner cross functionally with procurement, accounting, and other organizations to help identify opportunities for cost containment and reduction
Annual Operating Plan:
  • Assist with the annual IT and corporate functions business plan development and budgeting process, as well as semi-annual outlook process
  • Maintain and enhance allocation model for allocating IT and Real Estate costs across the organization
Quarterly Financial Review:
  • Develop detailed financial reporting and dashboards, forecasting and analysis to support quarterly business reviews, including development and tracking of management metrics (KPIs)
  • Facilitates expense reviews as compared to budgets
  • Lead the bi-annual outlook process
Monthly Planning, Forecasting & Reporting:
  • Financial variance analysis, and action plans to improve financial performance
  • Develop and update forecasts for expense and capital expenditures
  • Review and authorize purchase orders
  • Reconcile Headcount
  • Track project costs and ensure it is aligned to budget
  • Assist accounting team with their monthly close process for accruals, prepaids and capitalization
Projects and Key Initiatives:
  • Provide financial support, modeling, and business case development/analysis for major initiatives
  • Provide adhoc financial analysis presentations
  • Conduct multiple financial scenarios to mitigate risk
  • Manage cost transparency models for IT
Required Skills:
  • Experience with financial planning software like Anaplan
  • Power BI and Strong Excel and modeling skills
  • Proven technical/systems proficiency, ability to gather and synthesize large data-sets
  • Excellent finance, planning, and accounting skills
  • Strong commercial business acumen
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of financial and ERP systems such as Oracle and Hyperion
  • Proven ability to monitor financial discipline and accountability within a global support organization
Required Experience:
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in business operations in the areas of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and general accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Management
  • Previous business experience in an international organization
  • Global IT experience is highly desirable
  • Advanced Anaplan and Power BI experience highly desirable


    Compensation and Benefits 
    The annual pay range for this position is $72,200 -115,400 CAD.


Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
