We help our customers with their cloud adoption by providing architecture, migration, optimization, machine learning, and even 24x7 support. We are a professional services firm providing services in software engineering and the cloud. We do Technical consulting, Programming & Quality Assurance, DevOps, Applications, UX, Product management, and Project management.


Metal Toad is a fully remote organization with all employees having the option to work from home. The candidate must be able to work between 8 AM and 5 PM Pacific Time (PST) from Monday through Friday.


Advanced to fluent proficiency in English is a must for our positions since it is the language we communicate at the company.


Job Description


The System Administrator position at Metal Toad requires experience in maintaining infrastructure for high-availability, scalable, enterprise-grade applications. You will be part of a talented team that works on mission-critical applications. 


Responsibilities


Planning

  • Documents complete cloud hosting systems, including capacity planning, software and instance type selection, allocation, and network design.
  • Builds systems by executing installation, configuration, and testing of cloud resources.
  • Uses automation and configuration management to ensure repeatability and traceability of changes.


Managed Services

  • Troubleshoots system hardware, software, networks, and operating systems.
  • Protects integrity and security of systems by implementing access controls, monitoring tools, and provides written evaluation and recommendations for ongoing improvement. 
  • Maintains system performance through system monitoring and analysis and performance tuning..
  • Maintains internal systems and customer deployment documentation.
  • Part of a 24x7 on-call rotation (approx. 1 week on call, 1 week on backup per month).
  • Respond to support tickets and incidents in a timely manner, corresponding to SLA commitments.


Learning

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

  • Experience with AWS Cloud
  • Possess or achieves in first two weeks AWS Cloud Practitioner Certificate
  • Familiar with Windows and Linux System Administration

  • Deep knowledge of TCP/IP and HTTP protocols
  • Problem solver and willing to work in an agile/fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills and customer-oriented
  • Willing to react to system problems in off-hours and weekends if necessary
