Director, Portfolio Manager - Systematic Fixed Income

About this role

The Systematic Fixed Income Portfolio Management team is responsible for managing Blackrock’s Systematic (BSYS) Fixed Income portfolios. The team is responsible for ensuring that the portfolios meet their investment objectives and are managed in a consistent and risk-controlled manner.

We are now seeking a portfolio manager to join the Long Only Multi Sector team as a Vice President / Director in San Francisco and be responsible for a wide array of portfolio management activities across a diverse range of multi sector funds spanning institutional pooled funds, mutual funds, separate accounts and hedge funds. The successful candidate will work with Lead PM to ensure that active, systematic model views are applied to the portfolios accurately, efficiently and in line with portfolio guidelines and risk budgets. A successful candidate will also have strong technology skills, allowing him/her to contribute to the development of reports, tools, analytics and frameworks to attribute performance, monitor risks and design custom portfolio solutions using systematic insights, portfolio construction and risk management.

Key responsibilities

  • Daily portfolio management tasks including handling cash flow allocations, portfolio rebalancing, and monitoring of positions, performance, compliance and risk.
  • Maintain processes for portfolio and risk management in a scalable and risk-controlled manner.
  • Apply technology, automation, and analytical tools to improve processes and build scale.
  • Participate in research related to multi-sector portfolios and participate in investment meetings to share model updates, risk, positioning and investment views with peers.
  • Evaluate performance attribution and communicate market/portfolio performance.
  • Work with operations, risk, data, and other platform teams to drive operational improvements and participate in overall systems, investment, and trading process improvements.
  • Mentoring junior members of staff

Experience and knowledge required

  • Preferably 8+ years proven experience in the financial services or related industry.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and passion for financial markets.
  • Demonstrate keen awareness of operational risk issues as well as adapt quickly and perform under tight time constraints.
  • Knowledge of Aladdin tools like Portfolio Construction, Portfolio Monitor, Dashboard and Explore beneficial
  • Capacity to work in a challenging environment, often to time specific deadlines with relative autonomy.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong programming skills required, especially in Python.
  • Successful experience working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are a must as will have to deal with several internal teams such as Strategy, Trading, Operations, Risk and Quantitative Analysis etc.
  • Demonstrated planning and organization skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure. 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a diligent attention to detail.


 

For California only the salary range for this position is $205,000 - $260,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
