The opportunity 

Please note this is a 12-month contract.  Candidate must be fully bilingual and can work remotely from anywhere within Canada. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Resuscitation, the Project Specialist will play an exciting and pivotal role in supporting the resuscitation product development and e-learning teams.  This role will be involved in the planning, monitoring, testing, evaluation, and execution of Heart & Stroke’s five innovative resuscitation programs and product lines, all designed to align with the resuscitation guidelines.  These coordinated efforts will enable H&S to continue to successfully distribute updated resuscitation programs throughout Canada.   

 This role will also act as a liaison with the internal Linguistic Services team to coordinate the translation of resuscitation program assets and ensure quality assurance on the subject matter.  

To support the coordinated efforts of resuscitations product development and execution, this role requires a comprehensive understanding of project management's best practices, methodologies, and processes. This role requires someone who is articulate and motivated, who can identify vulnerabilities and obstacles and suggest creative innovative solutions to these challenges. 

How you will make an impact every day 

Coordinate project deliverables and task management   

  • Support the coordination of resus products and e-learning project deliverables and manage the project through to execution   
  • Help ensure project deliverables conform to best practices   
  • Assign, identify, manage and track key milestones, tasks and deliverables for the product development and e-learning teams to support achievement of launch targets  
  • Identify to Sr. Manager risks for product development timelines and suggest ways to mitigate  
  • Engages with product and e-learning teams to facilitate development and execution of plans;   

Project planning and execution  

  • Develop and monitor a project plan and schedule including interdependencies   
  • Perform requirements gathering with stakeholders when necessary   
  • Assist in implementing project activities as needed by the product and operations teams and recommend process improvements to the product development process  
  • Support product testing throughout the product development  lifecycle  
  • Report on product development progress via Wrike project management software  
  • Coordinate activities required to bring resuscitation products to market    
  • Schedule meetings and keep track of project deliverables and workflow for the resus project team  

Coordinate translation of products with linguistics   

  • Coordinate all activities required to bring the updated resuscitation products (including first aid) to the French market that includes, but it not limited to the following:    
  • Submission of assets to Linguistic Services for translation into French  
  • Recruiting & liaising with subject matter expert volunteers to review translated assets  
  • Liaising with external translation and design vendors as needed  
  • Review completed French assets for accuracy prior to printing or release to instructor network or the general public  
  • Coordinate the timetables of French assets to complement the delivery of English products to market  
  • Identify potential delays and assist in the formation of interim plans to negate adverse market outcomes  

Effective internal and external Communication  

  • In collaboration with the comms team, review a wide variety of internal and external French communications related to resuscitation including reports, presentations, announcements, correspondence, etc.  
  • Manage and monitor stakeholder expectations to ensure open and consistent communication channels, and timely completion of deliverables  
  • Clearly communicate project deadlines and monitor core project team’s progress through deliverables and milestones  
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders, identifying upcoming issues, concerns, changes and resources requirements  

Who we need 

Education 

  • Post secondary diploma/degree or certification plus related experience   
  • Active Heart & Stroke Instructor designation(s) (minimum Basic Life Support Instructor) would be an asset  

Experience 

  • Minimum 2-4 years of project coordination experience on medium scale projects  
  • Experience working on interdisciplinary project teams  
  • Knowledge/experience in the resuscitation field would be an asset  
  • Previous work in a French/English translation/editing/proofing role preferred  

Skills  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a talent to communicate clearly, simply, and concisely in a professional manner with stakeholders across the organization in both English and French  
  • French and English bilingualism is required  
  • Knowledge/experience in the development and delivery of adult education & learning programs is an asset  
  • Excellent understanding of project planning and experience in the development of enabling initiatives, including implementation tracking, stakeholder management and engagement, communication and execution   
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and nurture effective relationships with subject matter expert volunteers  
  • Strong listening skills and ability to translate knowledge into opportunity  
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to identify key priorities   
  • Good skills in stakeholder engagement and consultation, particularly to influence and contribute to project planning initiatives   
  • Be agile to support achievement of product delivery deadlines  
  • Strong attention to detail
