Job description

You as part of tonies:
As a Game Designer Interactive you play a crucial role in crafting creative and innovative concepts for our new product line aimed at pre- and grade-schoolers. Your expertise is pivotal in designing engaging stories, characters, and game mechanics that resonate with our young users. Beyond ideation, your insights are essential in prototyping and ensuring the quality of our games. In your capacity, you will supervise multiple games, guiding their development and quality throughout each stage. Additionally, you are instrumental in conducting market research, keeping our products relevant, competitive, and aligned with industry trends.
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Design engaging and innovative game concepts for educational and entertainment purposes within a new product category.
  • Craft well-balanced game mechanics for an engaging gameplay experience.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional team members to bring the game vision to life.
  • Create comprehensive game documentation including rules, flow, and procedures to guide the development team.
  • Define all required game materials for a complete gaming experience.
  • Conduct and support research and competitive analysis to make informed design decisions.
  • Participate in game testing and quality assurance to ensure product consistency and quality.
  • Regularly brainstorm, articulate, and present unique game ideas to key stakeholders.
What we are looking for:
  • At least 5 years of experience in game design (board games, video games) with ideally a deep understanding of the U.S. market. 
  • A proven track record in creating entertainment products specifically designed for young audiences, experience with pre- and grade-school children is a plus.
  • Professional board game experience is highly desirable and considered a significant asset.
  • Exhibit creative problem-solving skills and a forward-thinking approach.
  • Demonstrate excellent teamwork skills, fostering effective cooperation across departments in an international setting.
  • Proficiency in English, German is a plus.
