Job description

The mission if you choose to accept it
As the Head of Data, you’ll build and lead a team of data engineers, data scientists, and analysts, establishing a data-first culture across the organisation. You will develop and execute a strategy to leverage data as a core asset, providing insights to fuel growth, improve our product, and enhance the customer experience. This is a hands-on role that will require both strategic vision and tactical expertise as you drive our data efforts from the ground up.
Your profile
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Execute Data Strategy: Shape and implement a data roadmap aligned with business goals to optimise data’s role in strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and Execute AI Strategy: Help build and ship our AI/ML roadmap to market.
  • Data Infrastructure and Architecture: Oversee the design, build, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines, infrastructure, and warehousing solutions to support data integrity and security.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Hire, mentor, and manage a data team, fostering an environment of growth and continuous learning.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, marketing, and operations teams to identify and fulfill data needs, driving alignment on key data initiatives and bringing data driven products to market.
  • Data Analytics and Insights: Drive advanced analytics and insights, guiding the team in extracting actionable intelligence that impacts product development, marketing strategies, customer success, and overall business performance.
  • Data Governance and Compliance: Establish standards and processes for data governance, quality, and compliance, ensuring that all data handling practices are up to regulatory standards.
YOUR PROFILE
Are you the type of person who wants to build and lead a high performing team, helping us grow from launch through product-market fit to global scale?  If you’re ready to bring your spark to our team, then look below for the requirements!
  • 10+ years experience in data science, data analytics
  • 5+ years experience in leading high performing data teams
  • Strong background in data engineering, data science, and analytics with hands-on experience in SQL, Python/R, ETL processes, and cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and machine learning models.
  • A product person mindset - this is not ML and data engineering vs product engineering or design - it's product
  • A track record for implementing data strategies and products from 0-1
  • Ability to translate complex data findings into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders and align data efforts with business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a collaborative, results-driven environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage cross-functional teams.
Why us?
We're a small team with a lot of things to learn and do. We're building a company, a culture and a product with global ambitions. Culture fit is really important to us here at Nory, and team work is the name of the game – we are looking for someone who shares our values. Dublin, Ireland is where our core team is based, but we’re adapting our processes to the realities of 2024 and beyond so we are remote first where desired.
We're big on research and communication, and we will expect the same from you. No matter the role spec, you'll do great if you think customer-first and are willing to learn about the industry we operate in. You'll speak with customers, build a shared understanding of the problems at hand and, perhaps even identify some unmet needs that deserve to be explored further. Why? Because it takes a variety of skill sets and experiences to build a world-class product. We want you to contribute to the team's knowledge rather than just write code or push pixels whilst siloed away.
We like to think we’re well taken care of. Here's what's on offer on top of our competitive salary:
  • Stock Options Own a part of what you help build, and share in the success.
  • Flexible working culture We’re not going to tell you what time to start or finish your work. Or where to do it from. You know best.
  • Home office setup Because nobody wants their equipment to stop them from doing the work of their lives
  • 35 days holidays per year We work hard, chill harder.
  • Annual personal development budget – and a free Kindle loaded with books! There’s just so much to learn..!
  • Pension and private health insurance It’s really simple – your well-being is important to us.
  • Regular workshops, presentations and learning sessions From interview techniques, effective project management to giving actionable feedback and slicing engineering work, our amazing team is always up for sharing what they know. We invite other experts, too.
  • Regular events and team offsite Remote never stopped anyone here!
