The Senior Director of Systems Engineering is responsible for understanding how Littelfuse products are, and could be, applied in customers’ system. This position is focused on developing a deep understanding of our customer’s applications and identifying new product opportunities.
This position involves following technical trends and support internal customers such as vertical market managers, field applications engineers, product managers, and sales. The Senior Director of Systems Engineering will proactively initiate teardowns, as well as theoretical and experimental work to validate customers’ use-cases of existing and proposed products.
The successful candidate must be able to explain unfamiliar problems in an approachable way to internal and external customers. The role entails being a technical partner across the company with the aim to effectively articulate benefits of Littelfuse solutions. Responsibilities include authoring formal applications notes, as well as supporting digital marketing initiatives.
The candidate must be self-motivated and agile to operate within a matrix organization supporting associates across the Company. The Senior Director of Systems Engineering will develop a team and relationships need for success. Key competencies will include managing technical and commercial ambiguity, building effective teams, and measuring work.
Domestic & international travel to Company locations and customer meetings will be required – on-average, up to 30% of the time. Other responsibilities include providing regular project updates, supporting market mangers, field applications, sales, marketing, and product management associates as needed.
Experience and Education:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent; must have 8+ years of relevant experience in electronic systems, including design and testing of end-products.
- Must have demonstrated hands-on development engineering and experimental testing experience. Prior work on reliability and safety design of products is required.
- Must have demonstrated experience in customer facing roles such as strategic marketing or field applications engineering. An equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered.
- Must have strong communications and organizational skills, and the ability to influence without authority.
- Experience in working in cross-functional teams and matrixed organization is required.
- Multi-disciplinary and multi-industry experience is highly desired.
