Job description

As a Regional Sales Consultant for Asian Market Sales in Western Canada, you utilize strong knowledge of the Life and Health Insurance industry, Desjardins Insurance products and services, to build strong relationships in the Chinese community. You will proactively generate life and living benefits sales across various distribution partners with a focus on Mandarin speaking advisors. You represent Desjardins Insurance at industry events, work closely with advisors and field partners to develop life insurance sales, are capable of effectively educating on sales concepts and to identify suitable client solutions, and have strong presentation and communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills. More specifically, you will be required to: 

  • Develop business relationships with  key distribution partners and advisors  based in western Canada as part of our business plan to penetrate the Asian market

  • Conduct proactive outbound sales calls, using a consultative sales approach, to identify needs, problems and/or opportunities to position Desjardins Insurance solutions as the number #1 choice and deliver strong telephone and/or sales presentations

  • Provide training and onboarding to distribution partners, advisors and their support staff on products, services and solutions (webi setup, introduction to tools, etc.)

  • Promote and sell life and living benefits products

  • Work with various software applications and available resources to develop and grow sales

  • Work within a team environment

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field  

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in the life insurance industry or in wholesaling

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Hold an active LLQP license

  • Strong communication skills in both Mandarin and English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with english-speaking partners, members and/or clients

  • Expert knowledge of carriers, regulatory issues, and trends within the industry

  • Must have a valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle
