This position is responsible for delivering and supporting Products and Services in Syniverse’s staging and production environments. The incumbent will possess a high degree of experience and skill across multiple functions in software development, operations, and support. Experience with telecommunications and the cellular industry is a plus. The incumbent will possess a high degree of experience and skill in technology and management disciplines and will use those to meet business and various stakeholders’ expectations. Will work closely with business and technology teams to ensure that project schedules are met with a high level of quality.

Some of What You'll Do

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for delivering and supporting Products and Services in Syniverse’s staging and production environments.
  • The incumbent will possess a high degree of experience and skill across multiple functions in software development, operations, and support.
  • Experience with telecommunications and the cellular industry is a plus.
  •  The incumbent will possess a high degree of experience and skill in technology and management disciplines and will use those to meet business and various stakeholder’s expectations.
  • Will work closely with business and technology teams to ensure that project schedules are met with a high level of quality.
  • This incumbent will lead a team in transitioning from a traditional Operations mode to a DevOps mode of working.
  • Strong collaboration skills are required.
  • You will also provide technical leadership to the team.
  • Other responsibilities include mentoring of team members and the evaluation of new technologies.
  • Have experience managing priorities and schedules that balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Agile Management functions – Backlog refinement, Planning, Monitoring, and Risk Management, communicating with stakeholders, conducting retrospectives to identify improvements.
  • People Management functions – Recruitment, Employee development, Performance evaluation, Merit increase and other incentive recommendations.
  • Oversee operation of the production environment including monitoring and troubleshooting, review and scheduling of planned changes, and managing escalations.
  • Co-ordination with Product Managers/Owners, Development teams, and other Operations teams to schedule and support software releases.
  • Co-ordination with Customer Support, Operations, and Customers to resolve issues.
  • Establish and improve processes and practices to ensure timely delivery and high-quality work.
  • Will also provide cross-functional support within the company for new initiatives and business opportunities and provide input for development and operational improvements. 
  • Facilitate or attend internal and external technical overviews and determine technical feasibility.
  • Review solution architectures to ensure they meet functional, performance, and operational requirements.
  • Will also be responsible for vendor management activities such as creating SOWs, monitoring performance, and acting as a focal point for vendor related issues.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Lead team to implement and maintain automation to create and manage application environments, including VMs, custom and 3rd-party software.
  • Assess, specify, and prioritize improvements to automation services for infrastructure, including compute, network, and storage.
  • Actively participate in joint agile planning with Product Management and Development to develop feature road maps and supporting release plans.
  • Partner with peers and leads in Development and Operations to drive improvement in technology infrastructure and processes.

Job Requirements: 

  • Significant experience with automation in a UNIX or LINUX environment.
  • Must be open to being on-call, for escalation issues.
  • 5 years of experience with web application deployment and management required.
  •  Experience with troubleshooting REST web services required.
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • Understanding of Scrum and Kanban required, Scaled Agile preferred.
  • Operations experience in Agile organization strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Jenkins and Ansible preferred.
  •  Experience with cloud infrastructure, e.g., AWS, is preferred.
  • Experience with Docker containers and container management platforms preferred.
  • Experience with Identity and Access Management systems preferred.
