Position Description

The Director of Engineering will lead our engineering team in the development of industry-leading energy storage and power conversion solutions. The Director of Engineering will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of engineering projects while managing and mentoring a team of engineers. They will work with other teams across operations and technology to contribute to product innovation and process improvement.

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to the engineering team, setting clear technical direction and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments including product management, operations, and sales to drive successful product launches and meet customer requirements
  • Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing engineering team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment
  • Project Management: Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and execution to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and performance of our technical deliverables
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, and evaluate their potential impact, with engineering team technical leads, on FlexGen's product roadmap
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with product development and deployment
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering processes, efficiency, and productivity

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, preferably in the energy storage, power systems, or renewable energy industries
  • Proven track record of successfully leading cross-functional engineering teams and delivering complex technical projects on schedule and within budget
  • Strong leadership and talent motivation skill set. Drive to develop and mentor professionals of all experience levels
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong technical expertise in energy storage systems, power systems, and control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer requirements and market trends into innovative product solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and quality management systems
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate and address technical challenges and opportunities
