Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. This role will primarily focus on managing payroll processes while also supporting general accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in payroll management, experience with ADP, experience in a multi-state environment, and familiarity with benefits and leave of absence (LOA) regulations. This position is remote with restrictions, must be located in Colorado and available to make office visits when needed.

Hard Skills

  • Process semi-monthly payroll using ADP, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Process payroll information related to stock-based compensation to ensure earnings and tax information is accurately reported to taxing jurisdictions.
  • Manage payroll-related workstreams, including salary adjustments, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Work with ADP and the legal department to ensure that proper state registrations occur for employees hired in new states.
  • Record payroll journal entries in NetSuite, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations for payroll-related items, such as accrued bonuses, vacation pay, and other payroll liabilities.
  • Collaborate with HR to manage leave of absence (LOA) processes, ensuring accurate payroll adjustments and compliance with policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll reports for management and auditors.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and deductions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Stay updated on payroll legislation and best practices to ensure compliance.
  • Meet with new employees to introduce them to payroll processes.
  • Coordinate onboarding new vendors by creating vendor records in NetSuite, managing vendor intake forms, and W-9s to obtain information from vendors.

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Environment

Someone comfortable in a sub-starter environment, work and collaborate. Does not like to micromanage, but regular check-ins and clear expectations. Accounting team is mainly remote. OT is not expected unless payroll goes long. Typical 8am-5pm.
