Job description

Position: Data Security Architect

Location: Remote (Ashburn, VA)

Duration: 6-Month Contract with Potential for Extension

Interview Process: Two Interview Rounds

Key Requirements

  • Expertise in Microsoft Azure Purview and Defender for Cloud, particularly in implementing Purview information barriers with SharePoint Online
  • Proficient in Informatica Cloud Data Governance & Catalog
  • Experience with ServiceNow Vault data protection services
  • Familiarity with leading solutions such as Varonis and BigID
  • Experience with security keys and notes management

Technical Environment

Core Responsibilities

The role demands a hands-on approach, requiring proven experience in architecting, integrating, and implementing comprehensive data inventory, classification, and protection solutions. The candidate will be expected to consider:

  • On-premises data centers and regional office operations
  • Azure and ServiceNow cloud environments (IaaS/PaaS and SaaS)
  • Analytics services such as Azure Databricks and Power BI
  • Remote workforce management

The selected candidate will drive data protection architecture practices, ensuring adherence to PCAOB standards and regulatory requirements. They will serve as a trusted advisor to technology functions and business lines, tackling complex data protection challenges.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Assessing current data governance tools and capabilities against PCAOB standards
  • Understanding business needs and technical limitations through comprehensive evaluation
  • Proposing improvements to technological environments and processes
  • Establishing collaborative relationships with business owners to capture relevant use cases
  • Architecting a comprehensive data protection program for both on-premises and cloud systems
  • Maintaining documentation on data security control objectives and related processes
  • Formulating strategies for data security enhancements utilizing various technologies
  • Offering technical guidance to project teams for integrating data security requirements
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to mitigate data security risks across the organization

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Cyber Security, particularly in data protection architecture
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing data classification and protection solutions
  • Knowledge of data labeling/tagging for both structured and unstructured data
  • Familiarity with workflow automation and access flow control
  • Experience with on-premises MS SQL databases and cloud environments, particularly Azure and ServiceNow
  • Proven expertise with data protection tools such as Microsoft Azure Purview, Informatica Cloud Data Governance, and others
  • Comprehensive understanding of information security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 2700x)
  • Knowledge of data privacy laws including GDPR and HIPAA
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP-ISSAP, CCSP) preferred
