Job description

As a Configuration Analyst, you will be responsible for configuring product definitions, creating and optimizing workflows, and ensuring the platform effectively supports underwriting teams. Your role will be to collaborate closely with underwriters, product managers, and technical teams to ensure that the system aligns with business requirements and functions smoothly for end users.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Platform Configuration: Configure and update the Policy Administration System using low or no-code tools to ensure it meets the specific needs of underwriters and other insurance business users.
  • Product Definition: Manage and maintain product definitions, including coverage options, pricing rules, eligibility criteria, and rating engines, within the platform.
  • Workflow Creation: Design, build, and refine business workflows, such as submission, underwriting, policy issuance, renewals, and endorsements, to ensure efficiency and alignment with business processes.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Test and validate configurations to ensure they meet business requirements and function as expected. Troubleshoot and resolve any configuration-related issues or defects.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with underwriters, business analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure the platform configuration reflects the needs of the business.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for all configurations, workflows, and product updates. Provide guidance and training for underwriters and end-users on system functionalities.
  • Change Management: Manage the release of new configurations or updates to the platform in coordination with IT, product, and underwriting teams. Ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruptions to business processes.
  • Platform Optimization: Continuously analyze and identify opportunities to improve system configurations, streamline workflows, and enhance user experience.
  • Support & Maintenance: Provide ongoing support for the platform’s configuration and assist underwriters and other users in resolving issues related to product setup and functionality

Requirements

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in the insurance industry, preferably in roles involving Policy Administration Systems, underwriting, or product configuration.
  • Insurance Knowledge: Strong understanding of the insurance product lifecycle, including underwriting, policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, and cancellations.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into functional system configurations.
  • Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams including underwriters, business analysts, IT teams, and product managers.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in configuring systems and testing to ensure high-quality output and alignment with business needs.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues with configurations and workflows, providing timely resolutions and enhancements. 

Advantageous Experience/Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, or related field (preferred but not required
  • Technical Skills: Experience with low or no-code platforms (e.g., Instanda, Guidewire, Solartis, or similar) for configuring insurance products and workflows.
