Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities. Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.

What you'll do:

Data Strategy: Understands, articulates, and applies principles of the defined data engineering, analytics strategy to Walmart Associate Area Business needs.

Data Source Identification: Supports the understanding of the priority order of requirements and service level agreements. Helps identify the most suitable source for data that is fit for purpose

Data Modeling: Analyzes complex data elements, systems, data flows, dependencies, and relationships to contribute to conceptual, physical, and logical data models. Defines relational tables, primary and foreign keys, and stored procedures to create a data model structure.

Data Transformation and Integration: Extracts data from identified databases. Creates data pipelines and transform data to a structure that is relevant to the problem by selecting appropriate techniques.  

Data Governance: Establishes, modifies, and documents data governance projects and recommendations. Implements data governance practices in partnership with business stakeholders and peers. Interprets company and regulatory policies on data.



What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 3+ years of Data Engineering experience in Big Data technologies like Hadoop,  Spark, Hive, Google Cloud Platform, and Big Query
  • Hands on in one or more programming languages (Python, Java etc.)
  • Data Cleansing and Transformation: Ability to clean and transform data from different sources into a standardized format
  •  Query Optimization: Proficiency in optimizing queries to achieve better performance and reduce processing times is important when dealing with massive datasets.
  • Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial for identifying and resolving issues that may arise during the data integration and schema evolution process.
