Job description

Description

Scopely is looking for a Sr. Manager, Server Release Engineer to join our team in the US, remotely.

At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play, every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues, or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.

We are in the development stages on one of our new unannounced projects. We are looking for passionate game makers to collaborate, get in early and make their mark on this exciting venture!

What You Will Do

This is a unique opportunity to be at a critical stage in the project’s development, where you will help refine and enhance our release processes and pipelines.

You will be managing a team of developers and bring experience in delivering clean and scalable solutions that improve the lives of our fellow engineers, while also leading all aspects of the continuous integration and deployment of our server infrastructure, ensuring smooth, reliable game releases.

Your work will involve close collaboration with different teams across the game to support data migration and maintain stable working environments.

  • Collaborate with DevOps engineers to ensure CI/CD pipelines effectively support the release process.
  • Lead technical teams, addressing workflow gaps and delegating tasks to solve complex issues.
  • Foster growth and a sense of community, focusing internal and external teams on shared goals.
  • Implement and maintain automation tools to streamline builds, reduce manual tasks, and support design and data operations teams.
  • Coordinate with engineering, QA, and operations teams for timely, stable server releases, managing deployments to staging and production environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve server issues during and post-release, providing hotfixes as needed.
  • Continuously monitor live applications using tools like Datadog, Kibana, and PagerDuty, responding promptly to alerts and resolving live issues to ensure performance and stability.
  • Build and maintain documentation for release processes, tools, and infrastructure. Communicate updates, issues, and changes effectively with key collaborators.
  • Develop technical plans, conduct code reviews, ensure feature quality, and manage new code rollouts.
  • Support team members with sandbox environment usage and onboarding to new processes.
  • Develop and advise on data management tools to support long-term data and LiveOps goals.

What We’re Looking For

  • Solid track record leading and growing engineering teams in the games industry.
  • High expertise of server releases for high-traffic, live games, with strong CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins, Codebuild, Spinnaker) and cloud platform expertise (AWS preferred).
  • Proficiency in C#, with solid knowledge of coding architecture patterns, standards, and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and security best practices in server development and deployment.
  • Skilled in using monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Kibana, PagerDuty) to supervise live applications and quickly address issues.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multiple teams, disciplines, and time zones, with experience in Agile development environments.
  • Passion for games and solving complex technical challenges.
  • Positive, team-oriented mentality with a commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration.

At Scopely, we create games for everyone - and want to ensure that the people behind our games reflect that! We are committed to creating a diverse, supportive work environment where everyone is treated with respect. We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities and welcome individuals from all backgrounds to join us & embrace the adventure!

For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY and WA, the annual salary range is $168,000 - $212,400, plus equity, bonus and benefits including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time-off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
