Junior HCD & User Experience Designer

The Junior Human Centered Design and User Experience Designer will be a core member of the Index Analytics HCD Team and work closely with program team members and leadership to define and drive a strategic UX Research and Design vision across programs, projects, and the organization. The ideal candidate is a strong strategic thinker who will help champion and advocate for User Experience Design and Research best practices, using various, mixed qualitative and quantitative methods to drive HCD initiatives and deliver meaningful, actionable insights to team members and stakeholders. It is expected that the candidate is motivated to contribute as well as learn and grow, able to collaborate with Experience Design practice leaders and other program team members (visual designers, content strategists, engineers, etc.) while adopting a One-Team product mentality to deliver effective, efficient, and satisfying customer experiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES & CAPABILITIES
- Work closely with team members and program leadership to drive best in class user experience for our products and services, ensuring consistency in quality and outcomes.
- Demonstrate empathy and how to consistently use it to achieve truthful and thoughtful hypotheses and problem statements that lead to actionable insights.
- Work with HCD & UX leadership to meet team expectations while delivering in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Work with HCD & UX leadership and contribute to communicating your research results and design decisions to team members and stakeholders.
- Work with HCD and UX leadership to plan, inform and communicate, and conduct research activities from stakeholder and user interviews, contextual inquiry, to useability studies.
- Work with HCD and UX leadership to construct lean but meaningful user flows, journey maps, personas, service blueprints, and other outputs as necessary to execute on solutions.
- Ingest insights and data to develop mature (not novel) experience solutions, producing low fidelity wireframes to high fidelity prototypes.
- Work collaboratively with program leadership and developers to deliver solutions based on a collective team vision.
- Leverage Design Systems and provide guidance to engineers and help maintain consistency and cohesion across our product portfolio.
- Demonstrate confidence and flexibility when challenged while capable of advocating appropriately for data driven choices.
- Demonstrate systems design thinking, capable of understanding the impacts of decisions and choices prior to execution of solutions.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- US citizen or Authorized to Work in the US and have lived in the US for 3 of the last 5 years. Must be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
- 4-year college degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of relevant HCD UX experience conducting applied research using a variety of methods within a variety of settings, such as formative and generative research techniques.
- Place users and stakeholders at the center of your work while maintaining integrity, a positive attitude, compassion, and empathy.
- Behave as a constructive, positive, and compelling storyteller without biases or ego while working collaboratively within a group of diverse individuals.
- Access to reliable internet while working remotely in an efficient and productive manner, maintaining a high level of consistent outputs.
- Remote with a chance of travel (up to 25%)
- Strong understanding of agile best practices (Bonus points for SAFe experience or training).
- Knowledgeable about tools is preferred: Miro, Mural, Figma/FigJam, Jira, Confluence, MS Office products. But, being so intelligent that you can be tool agnostic is equally as awesome.
- BONUS POINTS FOR: Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, or Life Sciences industry experience; advanced degree in social sciences, human factors, design, or a related field.
The salary range provided represents the estimated compensation for new hires in this position, applicable across all locations. Actual offers may vary based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and market conditions.
