About the Role
Trimble is seeking an experienced Senior Program Manager to join the Civil Solutions team to help build the next generation software products and platform for construction site management. The position is a growth opportunity for an individual that involves supporting multiple programs simultaneously and partnering with cross-functional software development teams to define and track program schedules, drive process improvement and communicate progress with executive management and stakeholders. The successful candidate will also serve as a program manager for special projects within the organization to help bridge development across other teams within Trimble and to assist with internal digital transformation initiatives. The right candidate will bring personal leadership, strategic thinking, communications expertise, energy and creativity to help create and maintain communication flow across the organization.
What You Will Do
Work with product and engineering teams to help define and plan release roadmaps and milestones of software products and platforms and track progress within an agile software development process.
Present and communicate product status, issues, objectives, dependencies, risks and plan execution to stakeholders and executive management. Work with teams to develop risk mitigation strategies and action plans.
Drive collaboration and communication of cross functional, globally distributed teams. Act as the catalyst to resolve program challenges and conflicts by bringing key stakeholders together.
Proactively champion and mature the agile process across the organization with a focus on continuous improvement.
Manage executive leadership meetings. Help plan and facilitate team meetings and strategic planning meetings including formulating the topics to cover, building and advising agendas, guiding the discussion, bringing together notes and action items, and following up as appropriate.
Track progress of all product development OKRs and metrics. Identify potential issues, recommend resolution and prioritization.
Use personal leadership skills to include others ideas and perspectives in achieving organizational objectives.
What Competencies You Should Bring
Expertise in program management with a solid understanding of agile software development practices and proven track record of delivery within agile processes. Scrum and Kanban methodologies preferred.
Experience managing programs and collaborating with geographically dispersed teams made up of product managers, engineering leads, developers, qa engineers, marketing and cloud operations engineers.
Ability to facilitate process change within a paradigm consistent with the agile philosophy of people-over-process and continuous innovation through problem solving.
Ability to successfully drive multiple program activities in parallel and effectively lead diverse projects and product teams in a supportive role providing guidance, direction, and feedback.
Hands-on experience with developing and reporting on metrics for software development, test execution, bugs, issues, risks, and other aspects of project and program management.
Resourceful, flexible, adaptable, and self-driven. Willingness to learn.
Organizational savvy. Professionalism, discretion, and good judgment in all interactions with co-workers, customers, vendors and others.
Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to judge situations accurately and quickly, grasping complexities, identifying key issues and applying sound judgment.
Ability to build strong, trusting relationships and nurture an environment that allows collaborative debate.
Excellent time management skills. Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
Appreciation for the process of change management. Comfortable working in a dynamic environment managing competing demands and frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
What Skills and Experience You Should Have
Bachelor's degree in business, software engineering or computer science or related field.
7+ years of experience in program management, planning, and/or communication roles with core responsibilities managing and tracking the delivery of strategic products or projects.
5 years working within an agile software development process (concept to production) delivering commercial software.
Excellent problem-solving skills, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written).
Quantitative skills and experience creating compelling presentations.
Experience in delivering reports and communicating read-outs to senior and executive-level management.
Excellent collaboration, critical thinking, facilitation, and organizational skills.
Highly skilled in project management tools such as MS Project, Azure Devops, Jira, Smartsheets.
Proficiency with Google Enterprise tools (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides), Atlassian suite of tools (Jira, Confluence, and Roadmaps) and collaboration tools (Miro, LucidChart, etc) is a plus..
Domain knowledge and experience in the civil or construction industry is a plus.
