As a Senior Economist, you’ll use some of the most robust real estate data in the world to build tools and answer important questions about the American housing and rental market related to housing and economic policy, personal finance, urban planning, and other current events. This role works closely with the communications team and your research and analysis will be featured in top national publications, such as the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal and you would be a part of the national dialogue on the housing market.  The right candidate will be a passionate devourer of news and is quick to think of ways Redfin’s data can be part of breaking news conversations.

Understand how housing affordability is changing American cities across the country, and how housing relates to other major issues in our society.

  • Use data, both within Redfin and from other sources, to find new insights and compelling stories that help the public, press, policymakers, and Redfin leadership understand the housing market. Much of the output of this role will be public facing and published in news publications.

  • Work with Redfin’s data scientists and engineers to help guide and model randomized A/B experiments to help better understand how sensitive housing choice is to information on schools, transportation, taxes, or climate risk.

  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in housing and economic policy, news, economics research, and new technologies that help Redfin expand and maintain its position as a thought leader, and help the team understand them as appropriate.

  • Effectively plan and execute deadline-driven research projects and special initiatives with a quick turnaround, in accordance with overall company priorities and planning schedules.

  • Regularly work with APIs and public datasets and design compelling data visualizations or interactive tools.

Who You Are
