Job description

Cleaver Brooks Sales and Service is looking for a Project Manager to join our team in Dallas, TX. The Project is responsible for directing and providing technical support to project teams on large more complex projects (>$1M) and at time may be responsible for supporting teams on multiple mid-range projects ($500K-$1M).  The Project Manager coordinates all activities for the assigned projects and ensures that the goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed schedule and budget.  The Project Manager professionally manages the risks (particularly commercial risks) associated with the projects and ensures customer satisfaction during and at final project completion.

Job Location: Dallas, TX (Open to remote)

Essential functions:

  • Assist in development of preliminary project schedule.
  • Assist sales team in identifying alternative project execution approaches based on the scope of work and the most cost effective execution methods available.
  • Review project contract and understand work scope to immediately identify changes and additions to scope.
  • Prepare and submit change orders to clients.
  • Control expenditures on projects and ensure that profit margins meet or exceed expectations.
  • Display proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Maintain lines of communications between company departments and with client to set and maintain expectations with regard to cost and schedule.
  • Prepares interim and final project reports for goals, margin levels, and improvements with lessons learned.

Basic Requirements:

Education:

  • Engineering, technical, or construction management degree is preferred, but experience with the necessary technical skills will be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project and Excel.

Experience:

  • +3 years of project experience with an emphasis on boiler projects.
  • Experience in application and repair of boiler, steam and heat recovery process equipment and burner and controls systems in industrial, commercial and environmental industries preferred.
  • Experience with fabrication, construction and field activities.
  • Ability to read and comprehend comprehensive drawings and bills of material.
  • Strong computer experience with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, MS Project, and Word.

Physical Skill & Effort: 

Physical demands may require ability to endure frequent physical activity, work long days and handle outdoor elements including a variety of weather conditions.  Must be able to access all parts of the boiler to examine boiler design and repair work, including climbing ladders, enter confined spaces and use proper PPE, including harnesses when over 6 feet off the ground.

Working Conditions and Hazards:  

Work will be a mix of office and field/site conditions. Exposure to a variety of weather conditions on site can be expected.  Job specific safety training will commonly be required prior to new projects to identify risks and required mitigation steps.
