Are you ready to join the world’s largest asset manager and lead the way in index investing?

Index Equity Investments within BlackRock Global Markets & Index Investments (“BGM”) safeguard over $5 trillion in global index equity assets across Global Developed Markets, Emerging Markets and Real Estate Investment Trusts. We offer investors one of the industry's biggest choices of index investments.

Our investment teams include professionals who have deep experience within their respective markets, looking after the assets of institutional and individual investors alike. Our clients benefit from our portfolio management expertise and our culture of performance and risk management.

Our purpose is to help more and more people achieve greater financial wellbeing and it’s something we feel passionately about!

Your Role and Impact

We have a superb opportunity for a Portfolio Manager to join our EMEA Index Equity Investments team. This role encompasses all stages of the investment lifecycle for some of BlackRock’s largest institutional clients. It includes managing complex transition management rebalance events, as well as handling daily portfolio management responsibilities. You will be responsible for helping the institutional clients to restructure their investment portfolios, delivering rebalance solutions to reduce costs and risks when undergoing large changes to their portfolio allocations. We deliver this transition solution by partnering with clients by understanding their objectives, creating custom solutions, and implementing trading strategies to achieve their goals. You will also be responsible for all aspects of index equity portfolio management of global equity exposures, including the day-to-day management, risk and performance analysis and business process reengineering.

We’re looking for individuals who are passionate to learn, have natural curiosity, and have the ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced investment working environment. Attention to detail, interpersonal skills and technical knowledge are at the core of the skills required to be a successful member of the team.

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborating closely with clients to gain a comprehensive understanding of their investment portfolios and the desired strategic or tactical changes
  • 2-5 years of experience at an asset manager or investment bank in an investment or technical role, such as portfolio management, portfolio construction, risk management or trading
  • Conducting in-depth analysis of the portfolio changes to evaluate the shifts in exposure and required trading. This includes estimating all aspects of risk and cost, and devising bespoke trading strategies
  • Coordinating the execution of the agreed strategy with the internal global trading desks, ensuring it performs as expected and making live market adjustments as necessary
  • Perform daily portfolio management tasks; daily liquidity management, portfolio re-balancing, corporate action analysis, client activity, risk and performance monitoring
  • Leading the team’s communication and presentations with clients
  • Establish strong relationships with our Global Trading teams to navigate rebalances and other large-scale investment events
  • Engage with business partners to provide thought leadership and advice to promote high quality client solutions
  • Help establish portfolio management best practices that can be shared globally and build our next generation investment platform
  • Identify and drive operational improvements that lower risk and increase efficiency across the global teams
  • Contributing positively to our culture and supporting diversity, equity and inclusion

You Have

  • A passion for financial markets and technology
  • Knowledge of equities and the indexing ecosystem
  • Self-motivated, confident and proactive problem solver with a positive “can-do” attitude
  • Emotional ownership, high energy, curious, diligent and attention to detail
  • A passion to be constantly learning and developing new skills
