Job description

About Faire

Faire is an online wholesale marketplace built on the belief that the future is local — independent retailers around the globe are doing more revenue than Walmart and Amazon combined, but individually, they are small compared to these massive entities. At Faire, we're using the power of tech, data, and machine learning to connect this thriving community of entrepreneurs across the globe. Picture your favorite boutique in town — we help them discover the best products from around the world to sell in their stores. With the right tools and insights, we believe that we can level the playing field so that small businesses everywhere can compete with these big box and e-commerce giants.

By supporting the growth of independent businesses, Faire is driving positive economic impact in local communities, globally. We’re looking for smart, resourceful and passionate people to join us as we power the shop local movement. If you believe in community, come join ours.

  • Provide practical legal and risk management advice on a large span of employment challenges, such as recruiting, compensation, performance management, separations, internal investigations, leaves of absence, discrimination, harassment, diversity and inclusion, wage and hour compliance, restrictive covenants, reasonable accommodations, employee benefits, employee classification, and other employment related topics
  • Draft and review employment-related documents, including compensation agreements, settlement agreements, non-competition agreements, job offers, employment agreements, and severance agreements
  • Advise Faire’s People team on matters related to executive compensation, including with respect to equity and severance, and assist in preparing related public disclosures
  • Provide cross-border mentorship to support Faire’s hiring and employment practices in all of the countries where Faire has employees
  • Work with the People team on the development and interpretation of policies and programs, including employee trainings

  • Supervise, lead, and evaluate outside counsel on employment related matters, including local counsel in non-US jurisdictions, to handle employment and immigration issues, as well as litigation, across offices
  • Represent and defend Faire as necessary in employment disputes, including lawyer’s letters and administrative charges

Qualifications

  • Law degree and admitted to practice in at least one US jurisdiction (preferably NY or CA)
  • 6+ years combined experience in law firm and/or in-house legal department
