About the Team:
We are a mid-sized and growing team tasked with analyzing and synthesizing healthcare documents, which cover a range of policy types and topics. By providing our clients with real-time updates on the latest changes to medical and pharmaceutical policies across the US Healthcare landscape, we help reduce claim denials and ensure patients receive coverage for the therapeutics they need. We achieve this by taking a detailed and methodical approach to all document analysis, as well as through technology-enabled solutions.

About the Position:
In your first work term, you will undergo several weeks of training and receive tasks to get to know the database. By helping us maintain and expand our resources, you’ll get a feel for the work, environment, and team. This term is based heavily in developing and refining your skills in navigating and maintaining the database.
In your second term, you will continue to hone the database skills you started developing in term one. You may take on a leadership role by assisting with the training and mentoring of the incoming co-op student through leading training sessions in the areas you specialize in, helping revise training materials, and being a source of knowledge and support for the new co-op student while you are guided through this process by your co-op supervisor (Note: mentorship is dependent on the team you enter).
Learning outcomes may include, but are not limited to:
- Knowledge of US privatized & government healthcare system, including benefit types, Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial plans
- Knowledge of which entities decide which services, procedures, and pharmaceuticals are allowed to be distributed to the public
- Insight into the circumstances in which a person is approved to receive certain medical interventions
- Evolution of a healthcare policy over time
- Research skills, through conducting online searches for healthcare policy resources
- Database maintenance and quality control experience
- Development of independent work and teamwork abilities through working in a combination of individual and team-based tasks
- Leadership and mentoring skills in the second term by aiding in the training and support of a new co-op student
Responsibilities:
- Clean up data stored within the database
- Synthesize and communicate information from healthcare-related documents
- Create short deliverables for clients based on the information in the database
- Assist in training and mentoring new co-op students (second term; dependent on team joined)
- Assist in the creation of training materials and leading certain training sessions
- Communicate ideas and problem-solve issues with team members and supervisors
- Complete computer tasks, including modifying files

- Ability to maintain focus on repetitive tasks for long periods
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remember large quantities of procedural information
- Comprehensive and proficient written and spoken English skills
- Ability to manage several priority tasks that may have overlapping deadlines
- Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel and/or Google Docs and Sheets

Compensation: $20.50/hr
