Job Overview

Join our innovative organization as a Data Engineering Manager, where you will spearhead a talented team of data engineers in architecting and developing a state-of-the-art data platform. Your enthusiasm for data, paired with your management expertise in building robust data pipelines, will be critical as you work alongside business stakeholders and data analysts to improve data accessibility and utility. In partnership with executives and engineering leaders, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and executing a strategic data architecture and framework designed to drive substantial business growth. Your responsibilities will include modernizing outdated systems and establishing a solid technological foundation to facilitate data-driven insights that propel organizational expansion. We seek a multifaceted leader who can both architect complex systems and oversee a strategic roadmap while effectively guiding our data team and analytics partners, both onshore and offshore. Familiarity with Azure platforms, specifically Azure Synapse and Data Factory, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement a comprehensive data architecture and strategy that is aligned with the organization's overarching objectives.
  • Revitalize legacy data platforms and reporting systems to optimize the speed and accuracy of data collection, storage, and analysis.
  • Manage a backlog of requests while directing the product roadmap and ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Engage directly in the development of data pipelines to transform raw data into structured models that enable insightful reporting and analysis.
  • Lead and cultivate a team of data engineers (both onshore and offshore) to guarantee the effective delivery of data-driven insights.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to pinpoint and prioritize data requirements, crafting impactful solutions.
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the business landscape and the data that supports it, continually refining data processes and practices.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies within the data domain, integrating relevant advancements to enhance operational capabilities.

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in modern cloud-based data management, warehousing, pipeline orchestration, ETL/ELT technologies, and data analytics tools.
  • Experience in transforming legacy data solutions and constructing foundational data platforms to broaden analytics access.
  • Proven capability to lead and manage a team of data engineers and analysts, including partnerships with outsourced data providers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adept at engaging with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with Azure's data tools, including Synapse and Data Factory.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to address complex data challenges.
  • Experience collaborating with investors and business stakeholders to deliver data-driven insights that inform key decisions.
  • Previous experience in the insurance sector and insurance technology is highly desired.
  • Prior exposure to startups or rapidly scaling companies is also preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
