Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) to ensure peak performance, reliability, and security.
  • Monitor database systems, troubleshoot performance issues, and optimize system operations.
  • Implement robust security protocols to safeguard data and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Design and execute comprehensive backup and recovery strategies, ensuring rapid data restoration when necessary.
  • Maintain data accuracy and consistency across databases through meticulous validation and error-checking methods.
  • Develop and implement database schemas, tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures.
  • Plan for future database growth and scalability, managing capacity and performance proactively.
  • Automate routine database maintenance tasks through effective scripting.
  • Collaborate with development teams to enhance database structures for optimal application performance and scalability.
  • Keep detailed documentation regarding database configurations, processes, and best practices.
  • Provide on-call support to address critical database system issues promptly.

Required Skills

  • Extensive experience with database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Proficient in performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting of database systems.
  • In-depth understanding of database security, backup, and recovery processes.
  • Skilled in database design, schema creation, and query optimization.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of data integrity and validation techniques.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Outstanding communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in database administration.
