Job description

Are you a results-driven professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for financial management? We’re looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee and streamline our accounts payable operations.

The Position:
As the Accounts Payable Manager, you will lead a team and oversee the Accounts Payable function across all entities within the Group. This role is hands-on, with a strong emphasis on stakeholder management, team leadership, and the continuous improvement of systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounts payable team, ensuring they perform at their best and meet operational goals
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance management to the AP staff
  • Oversee the daily accounts payable process, including the accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports
  • Lodge the monthly BAS
  • Manage the Group credit card program
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring prompt payment and addressing any billing or payment issues
  • In partnership with procurement, negotiate favourable payment terms and conditions with suppliers
  • Continuously assess and improve accounts payable processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
  • Implement and maintain automation tools to streamline AP operations
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures that align with best practice and compliance standards
  • Actively participate in projects and act as the subject matter expert for all impacted accounts payable processes and systems on these projects
  • Oversee the AP month-end closing process, including the preparation of reports, reconciliations, and accruals
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, tax legislations and accounting standards (e.g. GST)
  • Collaborate with procurement, finance, and other departments to ensure alignment on payment schedules and processing
  • Partner with the management accounting team for cash flow forecasting and analysis
  • Work closely with senior management on strategic initiatives, such as supplier negotiations and budget planning
  • Manage BAU system issues, including any system developments, and liaise with IT on any issues or changes that will impact on the team

Requirements

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in a similar role in a shared services environment managing a large volume of transactions
  • NDIS Worker Screening Endorsement (or ability to acquire)

Desirable

  • Experience in Aged Care and /or other health care setting
