Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY is currently recruiting for a FT Tenure Track Automotive Technology Faculty
The School of Applied Engineering Technology is pleased to invite applications for a full-time tenure track faculty appointment in the Automotive Technology discipline. Major responsibilities of this position include college-level teaching of automotive technology in lecture and laboratory courses in such content areas as automotive fundamentals, breaking systems, electricity and electronics, engine systems, fuel and ignition systems, transmissions, drivelines and geartrains, suspension and steering systems, and automotive service management. Responsibilities:
- Be responsive to student questions and available for student support;
- Use appropriate technology to enhance learning;
- Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives;
- Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education;
- Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree completion;
- Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes;
- Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester; and,
- Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.

Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications for appointment at Rank of Assistant Professor:
Master's degree in Automotive Technology (or a closely-related field*), with at least 3 years of related experience; OR
Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology (or closely-related field*) with industry-recognized certifications, with at least 3 years of related experience;
OR
Associate Degree in Automotive Technology and industry-recognized certifications, with at least 10 years of industry-related experience;
OR
Automotive industry experience, industry-recognized training, and industry-recognized certifications, with at least 20 years of industry-related experience.
*Related Fields include Automotive, Commercial/Heavy Equipment, Electrical, Mechanical, System Engineering, Technology Education (CTE, Vocational, etc)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in teaching college level courses.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated connections with local industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Bilingual in Spanish & English. English and another language also will be considered.
Additional Information:
The 2023-2024 starting salary for the rank of Assistant Professor is $56,250 based on a 15-credit teaching load per fall and spring semester. Additional compensation available for teaching additional courses. Salaries for 2024-2025 are not yet available.
