What the hiring manager says

“This role offers a truly unique opportunity at the forefront of communications for the global mobile industry. This is a highly collaborative role, working with our teams of global experts to research, develop and shape how the GSMA’s Leadership Team speaks on behalf of the mobile industry on global stages, across priority channels, and to senior stakeholders. As connectivity becomes embedded in every aspect of our daily lives, there has never been a better time to join this international and diverse team, where a positive approach and the right fit is very important to us.”
Denna Jones, Director, Executive Communications

About the Team

This role sits in the Connectivity for Good, Executive Communications and Regions Marketing team, and works closely with the wider Marketing team, including Brand & Strategic Content, PR & Communications, and Digital.

About the Role

The Senior Writer provides written copy for our Director General and Leadership Team, ensuring that one voice represents the GSMA and the global mobile industry on all priority topics.

This role researches and develops compelling communications materials, including keynote speeches, speaking points, blogs, forewords, quotes and social media posts, for multiple audiences, including GSMA members, partners, policymakers, international organisations, and other sectors.

For successful keynote speech delivery, the Senior Writer works closely with GSMA and external event production and operations teams, ensuring that speeches are converted to the correct onsite formats, and provides briefs for the GSMA Brand team and external creative agencies to create visuals that will best enhance announcements and key calls to action.

The Senior Writer also develops social media marketing collateral for the GSMA’s flagship Mobile Economy report series, from GSMA Intelligence, which forms the foundation of many of the communication materials developed for the Leadership Team.

About You

  • You are an experienced writer and storyteller, with a creative mindset, always able to find interesting ways to convert often complex technical information into memorable and personable written and visual content for our Leadership Team.

  • You have experience writing about telecoms and technology, and are excited by the rapid pace of digitisation which is shaping and evolving our world.

  • You are able to differentiate the unique communication style of each Leadership Team member, and can easily switch between the different styles to communicate authentically on their behalf.

  • You are able to work across the whole organisation, developing relationships and gathering insights and data from multiple expert teams to develop meaningful content.

  • You love learning, are able to quickly grasp new topics, and you have meticulous attention to accuracy.

  • You are intellectually self-motivated and have the proven ability to prioritise and deliver to a high quality and on time under pressure, adapting to changing demands from stakeholders and the news cycle.

  • You are experienced in publishing to LinkedIn, Instagram and X corporate accounts.

  • You can uphold a high level of discretion when handling sensitive information.

  • You are familiar with WordPress, Salesforce, Hootsuite and Google Analytics.

  • You are willing to travel, should the role require it.
