Job description

The Commercial Sales Lead is responsible for the growth and expansion of direct sales and profit margins within assigned accounts and/or territory/region on products or services. In this role, you will establish professional relationships with key personnel in customer accounts. In addition to meeting assigned targets for profitable sales volume and margin dollars. You will also have the added responsibility of managing a small team of field sales territory managers.

  • Provide leadership and direction to a front-line sales team of 4-5 direct reports: active Player Coach spending time in the field and via phone-based coaching sessions nurturing high performing sellers.
  • Prioritize coaching and performance management efforts to have maximum impact on business results.
  • Assist TM’s in effective Pre-call Planning and Time & Territory Management
  • Managing in Funnel Reviews and Territory Plans
  • Find, onboard, support and grow key distribution and channel partners in the geography to help grow through project and direct sales, and manage appropriate Channel Partner processes
  • Participate in TM sales calls, focusing on honing the TM’s skills required to be outstanding solutions sellers through a question-based sales approach.
  • Manage and measure performance using KPI’s, identify gaps in performance, and institute countermeasures where appropriate to achieve goals.
  • Achieve assigned financial objectives and KPI’s through Monthly Forecast and Sales Force Funnel Review Process
  • Maintain and execute Hydro and Met action plans.
  • Implement and manage training programs and productivity initiatives.
  • Be part of the Hydro Met Leadership team to prepare Budget roll-ups, Team Bookings, Revenue targets and team initiatives.


Are you qualified?

  • A degree in a management or science-related field such as Biology, Environmental Science, Hydrological and Meteorological Studies, Engineering, Business, or equivalent is an asset
  • 5-10 years of direct B2B sales experience, selling water quality, flow, discharge, and telemetry solutions to urban hydrologists, Federal Government Agencies and local/muni flood and stormwater agencies, and water/wastewater treatment plants
  • Must have formal sales training with experience in value and question-based selling.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the use of SFDC for funnel management and forecasting.
  • Must be willing and able to travel extensively within assigned territory and teams' territory - Must also have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Thinks through and analyzes complex problems, challenges, and drives to the root cause.
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of customer expectations and end-user needs.
