Job description

We believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. We recognize that mental health issues can be complex and multifaceted, and we are dedicated to treating the whole person, not just the symptoms.

We aim to create a world where mental health is no longer stigmatized or marginalized, but rather is embraced as an integral part of one's overall well-being.

We believe that by providing quality care that is both evidence-based and compassionate, we can empower individuals to take charge of their mental health and achieve their full potential. We are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of those struggling with mental health issues and we strive to be a force for positive change in the field of mental healthcare.

Are you a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) looking for the flexibility of a telehealth environment while delivering high-quality care across the lifespan? At Rula, we’re transforming psychiatric care by empowering our providers to offer exceptional, evidence based  measurement informed care in a supportive, flexible setting.

Why Rula?

  • Comprehensive support: Our team of virtual assistants, registered nurses, and care coordinators handle non-clinical tasks, allowing you to focus on patient care.

  • Flexibility: You can choose between two schedules: 5 days (8 hours/day) or 4 days (10 hours/day), with clinic hours running seven days a week, 7 AM to 7 PM PST. Additional clinic hours are on the way!

  • Work/life balance: With a thoughtful provider ramping schedule, 7 hours of admin time, and assistive charting technology, you’ll have the time and support to provide meaningful care. We also limit daily new patient intake to ensure quality over quantity.

  • Leadership & Innovation: Led by clinical experts who understand the provider experience, we integrate measurement-based care practices and cutting-edge technology to empower both patients and clinicians.

You’ll get:

  • Steady Patient Volume: We ensure your schedule is filled and provide compensation for no-shows. With 33 hours of availability, you’ll have a predictable caseload.

  • Admin Support: We support patient scheduling, billing, and insurance, so you can focus on care.

  • Efficient documentation: We provide every Nurse Practitioner with a medical autoscribe program, significantly reducing charting time.

  • Coordinated care: Our in-house team connects your patients with the help they need, from a higher level of care escalation to a rematch to another clinician and anything in between.

  • Continuous Growth: Receive an annual stipend for continuing education, plus access to best practices shared across our collaborative team. We take a group approach to MD supervision in addition to 1:1 time with your supervising Psychiatrist.

  • Generous Time Off: Enjoy 4 weeks of paid time off, plus 11 paid holidays.

  • Full coverage: We cover your DEA and licensure renewal costs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience as a licensed Nurse Practitioner, with proficiency in mental health assessment, diagnosis, medication management, treatment planning, triage, and crisis management.

  • Licensure & Certification:

    • Active Nurse Practitioner license in California, including an active DEA (Schedules II-V) and CA nurse practitioner furnishing license with Schedule II prescriptive authority.

    • Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner across the lifespan (PMHNP-BC).

    • A Master’s/Post-Master’s certificate or doctoral degree in psychiatric mental health nursing from an accredited program.

  • Professional Record: No adverse actions from nursing boards, hospitals, or credentialing bodies in the past 2 years. No suspension/exclusion/debarment from federal healthcare programs (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP).

  • Technology Proficiency: Comfort with technology, EHR systems, and telehealth best practices.

  • Compliance: Willingness to obtain a CURES account (PDMP) and ensure checks are completed before prescribing controlled substances, with follow-ups every 6 months.

We're serious about your well-being! As part of our team, full-time employees receive:

  • 100% remote work environment: Working hours to support a healthy work-life balance, ensuring you can meet both professional and personal commitments

  • Attractive pay and benefits: Full transparency of pay ranges regardless of where you live in the United States

  • Comprehensive health benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and FSA/HSA

  • 401(k) plan access: Start saving for your future

  • Generous time-off policies: Including 2 company-wide shutdown weeks each year for self-care (for most employees)

  • Paid parental leave: Available for all parents, including birthing, non-birthing, adopting, and fostering

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Support for your mental and physical health

  • New hire home office stipend: Set up your workspace for success

  • Quarterly department stipend: Fund team-building activities or in-person gatherings

  • Wellness events and lunch & learns: Explore a variety of engaging topics

  • Community and employee resource groups: Participate in groups that celebrate employee identity and lived experiences, fostering a sense of community and belonging for all

  • Discounted programs: Fetch, SmartSpend, Ladder, SoFi
