As an Account Manager supporting Surgical sales in the Manitoba and Saskatchewan territory, you will be trusted to manage the territory as a surgical business sales consultant for all Alcon Canada surgical products, in a manner which achieves annual budget targets and adds long term value for our customers. The core focuses are the public accounts in the territory, as well as selected surgeons/Key Opinion Leader (KOL) specifically assigned on a nominal basis. In this role, major accountabilities will include:

  • Achieve sales quota for assigned products: responsible for total territory sales (full surgical portfolio) as well as sales targets on key product lines such as total lenses, advanced technology lenses, equipment and hand pieces.
  • Train and educate surgeons and nursing staff in the Operating Room to improve surgeon knowledge and optimize use of Alcon products while creating selling opportunities.
  • Tender process: support Regional Sales Manager in the management of RFP/contract process for individual hospitals, or buying groups for large hospital contracts (multi-year, multi-million dollar bids).
  • Contract management: ensure contractual obligations and payments met, both from customer and from Alcon.
  • Account management: work with hospitals to resolve any issues arising relating to product problems, price, service and delivery as well as conducting regular business reviews and understanding hospital budget process and planning cycle.
  • Establish relationships at all levels of hospital with primary focus on surgeons, key administrators (finance/budget and program managers) OR nursing staff, materials management and Medical Device Reprocessing Departments.
  • Conduct strategic account planning together with Regional Sales Manager to insure business retention and growth (2 – 5 year planning cycle) with the Implementation of marketing strategies/product launches and integration into planning process.
  • Collaborate closely and align with Product Specialist and Equipment Specialist

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • University degree in related field required; Bachelors of Science, Bachelors of Commerce or equivalent, plus MEDEC Certification are preferred
  • 3-5 plus years in hospital surgical sales or 5 plus years in Pharma/other products selling to Ophthalmologists required; 3-5 years experience with Ophthalmic or Surgical products preferred
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proven ability to establish strong business relations for Alcon with customers, that are conducive to sales results and long term development of customers as Alcon customer (i.e. grow the relation for Alcon)
  • Proven ability to ensure sales capture through full contract execution, timely invoicing, and overall sales process management (i.e. “own the account”)
  • Proficient in using Salesforce or similar sales administration system
  • Experienced with online quoting, contract management, RFPs, and other online processes.
  • Must reside in the Manitoba or Saskatchewan territory
  • Travel Requirement: 40%
