About the Team
We are a close-knit team of 10 lawyers based in the UK, India and Bulgaria. We are one of the most cross-functional teams in the company, helping Tideans accomplish their goals, grow the company and stay compliant. Each team member is a true owner and has a huge impact every day.

About the role
As Head of Legal - Product at Tide, you will serve as a subject matter expert on a diverse range of regulatory and legal issues relating to the development, launch, marketing and operation of Tide’s products and services. You will oversee a small team of product lawyers, ensuring they are well supported while working collaboratively across different teams to ensure compliance with the fast-evolving regulatory environment.
This is a senior role within the Tide Legal Team, with high executive visibility and excellent opportunities to lead the resolution of complex legal, technology and business issues and develop a high-performing team.
As Head of Legal - Product you’ll be:
- Advising senior management and product teams on legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our activities, products and services, predominantly advising on UK and EU regulations while partnering with external counsel in other jurisdictions.
- Helping business teams navigate complex legal and regulatory frameworks to design, deploy and mature innovative products and services, in particular payments, lending and acquiring.
- Drafting and reviewing product focused terms and conditions, policies, procedures, disclosures and external communications.
- Anticipating legal, business, technology and regulatory challenges and creatively solving problems to support the business in executing their product roadmap.
- Helping expand Tide’s global footprint by supporting new market entry initiatives e.g. performing legal and regulatory surveys to understand applicable laws in those markets.
- Providing support to business teams in relation to implementing regulatory changes and new processes.
- Supporting regulatory advocacy initiatives with industry associations and regulators.
- Supporting regulatory queries, investigations, audits and ad-hoc civil disputes if required.
- Providing updates, training and education for management and product lawyers on global and regional regulatory developments.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of product lawyers, ensuring their development and high performance.
- Selecting and managing outside counsel effectively.
You’ll be a great fit if:
- You have 7+yrs of PQE.
- You have a depth of experience and knowledge of regulatory work in a technology driven environment. Contentious experience is desirable but not required.
- You have previously drafted product or service product terms and conditions.
- You are proficient in interpreting, applying, or enforcing the FCA and/or PRA rules and regulations at a payments institution, fintech company or top tier law firm.
- You have prior experience supporting new market entries.
- You are an innovative thinker with a passion for navigating business teams through complex legal challenges.
- You are a strong individual contributor with effective collaboration skills at all levels within the organisation.
- You have experience mentoring, managing or overseeing the work of junior colleagues.
- You have excellent cross-functional communication abilities in an international environment.
- You are eager to learn and thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented business setting.
- You are comfortable managing ambiguity and making decisions under tight deadlines.
- You are proactive with a can-do attitude, taking ownership of resolving issues.
- You have exceptional organisational skills with a proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- You have meticulous attention to detail with strong drafting and analytical skills.
- You have a higher education and a degree in law.
