Materials Science Consultant

Key Role:

Perform professional engineering and scientific support to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Support as a technical consultant the development and management of innovative government-run research and technology programs centered on the development and applications of materials science and material development for a variety of unique problem spaces. Provide strategic assessments of new technologies in support of senior decision-makers while conducting background research in evaluating the feasibility and the defense applications of new technological concepts. Produce and present findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients, assist with program ideation and technical program management, and brief materials out for government R&D efforts. Work with world-class scientists in driving forward groundbreaking research efforts developing new materials across a variety of applications spaces.

Basic Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience with defense research and development

• 3+ years of experience with researching materials science and its applications

• 3+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences

• Secret clearance

• Doctorate degree

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience with developing novel materials for specific applications

• Knowledge of applying advanced data analysis techniques to materials science

• Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Possession of excellent organization and client service skills

• Top Secret clearance

• Doctorate degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
