Come join our Localization team and help us create the best possible user experience for learners of Music through high-quality, pedagogically sound Russian localization.

This is a contract role (no benefits included) that can be based anywhere in the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Use your knowledge of music teaching to provide localization support for Duolingo’s Music course; proofread localized content and verify that music concepts and approaches are accurately and compellingly represented for Russian speakers within Russia as a target region
  • Contribute to the development of a Russian music glossary based on the English course content and in-house style guides
  • Consult with Music team and Russian localization team members to align on key pedagogical approaches that should be captured in translation
  • Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure that exercises are not only understandable for Music learners in Russian, but also engaging and pedagogically sound

Requirements:

  • Native fluency in Russian and full working proficiency in English
  • 2+ years professionally teaching Western music with theory and/or Western music theory alone in Russian
  • Familiarity with pedagogical approaches to music, beginner piano, and Western music theory
  • [Preferred] Experience localizing online, mobile, and/or game products
  • [Preferred] Experience developing music curricula
  • Strong interest in Duolingo and our mission
  • Ability to work 5-20 hrs/week for a 2-5 month contract (flexible; workload may vary from week to week)
