Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to be responsible for the preparation and review of financial statements for multiple dental office locations. This individual should have the ability to understand accounting principles, analyze financial transactions and re-engineer processes to gain efficiencies. He/she will work with colleagues in multiple departments on reporting results to Regional and Corporate management.
Responsibilities:
Tracks, summarizes and records amortization of prepaid expenses
· Analyzes and reconciles medical insurance
· Analyzes and reconciles payroll benefits
· Analyzes and reconciles legal expenses and professional fees to ensure correct coding
· Maintains records of company insurance and works with insurance provider
· Prepares and analyzes office and regional financial statements
· Prepares journal entries and maintains supporting records
· Prepares account reconciliations for multiple accounts and locations
· Answers accounting and financial questions by researching US GAAP, general ledger transactions and interpreting data
· Provides detail analysis and quantifies variances from expected results
· Maintains supporting work papers for internal and external audits
· Develops and implements efficient accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes through process enhancements and automation
· Communicates with Office Managers and Regional Management on financial results and policies/procedures
· Constructs ad-doc reports and assist with projects as needed
ATTRIBUTES OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
· Ability to work on multiple tasks, track progress and provide status updates
· Detail oriented with the ability to aggregate and manipulate a large amount of data in Excel
· Strong computer and business solution software skills, including:
o Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
o Outlook
· Good communication skills for communicating with support personnel and management
· Strong analytical skills for researching and identifying discrepancies
· Ability to work independently, including from home, and to adapt in a dynamic environment
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
· 2+ years of accounting experience
· Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office Tools
· Working knowledge of US GAAP and ability to research technical items
· Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
· Strong analytical skills for researching and identifying discrepancies
· Experience working with accounting software, (Great Plains is a plus)
