The Enterprise Risk Management team is looking for an experienced risk professional to support AIMCo’s Operational Risk Management Program, specifically, Operational Resilience. The scope of this position extends across all AIMCo’s global regional offices and subsidiaries.
The successful candidate will lead the ongoing enhancement and maintenance of a robust and effective Operational Resilience Program through identifying, assessing and planning for potential disruptions to critical business operations across all operating geographies. Initially, key responsibilities will include reviewing and updating existing policies and procedures and leading the organization-wide Business Impact Assessment to identify and assess AIMCo's critical functions.
This role will require collaboration with all divisions including, but not limited to Global Technology & Data, People & Culture, Workplace, Travel & Security, Finance, Investment Operations and Investment Management. In addition, this role will provide support in integrating the Operational Resilience Program with the Third-Party Risk Management Program (TPRM).
As a well-rounded operational risk candidate, additional responsibilities of this position include supporting some of AIMCo’s other operational risk programs (such as operational loss collection and third party risk management). The primary goal is to learn from past events, understand opportunities for improvement and mitigate future risk events.
The ideal candidate will have a have a keen understanding of operational risk and the importance of operational resilience, leading practices, theory, as well as practical experience in developing and maintaining Business Continuity Programs.

Responsibilities
Support AIMCo’s Business Continuity Program across all business lines and global operating geographies, including policy and governance development and review.
Lead, improve and coordinate data collection and organizational change monitoring initiatives (Business Impact Analysis, risk assessments, etc.)
Liaise with key departments and team members to assist in developing and updating response protocols, conduct lessons learned, updating/developing response plans and support the review, tracking and updating of post incident assessments and lessons learned registers.
Support the development of new/existing dashboards, reports and databases, leveraging ERM’s technology, process and tools.
Liaise and support first line component programs (Facilities, DR, Travel, Crisis Management, etc.) to ensure a coordinated, planned and integrated approach to Business Continuity.
Assist in the updating of departmental and regional Business Continuity Plans, contingency plans and related policies.
Assist and support Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and the Operational Risk Committee (ORC) as needed by developing and updating relevant reports and presentations.
Provide support during an active response, including engaging and supporting the Crisis Management Team and ERM.
Assist in the development and delivery of training, awareness materials as well as exercise development and delivery.
Support the integration of the Operational Resilience Program and Third Party Risk Management Program.
Support the testing and improvement of critical Business Continuity tools and strategies.
Engage with industry peers, and proactively support the identification or potential/upcoming threats and treatment options.
Support ongoing resilience initiatives, including the maintenance of business continuity plans for the regional offices, and development of escalation and notification protocols, etc.
Support the collection, validation, and reporting of resilience Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
Support the other operational risk programs (such as operational loss collection, third party risk management), as needed.
Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance or another related field supplemented by designations such as ABCP, CBCP or other related Operational Risk/Resilience designations.
- Minimum 5 years’ direct experience with Operational Resilience/Business Continuity in a financial/investment related work environment.
- Some domestic and international travel may be required.
Key Knowledge and Skills
- Working knowledge of industry standards and best practices relating to Operational Resilience/ Business Continuity (i.e. ISO 22031, OSFI E-21)
- Experience in documenting and conducting Business Impact Analysis (BIA) sessions documentation to assess criticality, prioritization and resumption of business functions
- Experience in collaboratively developing and socializing operational resilience governance materials (i.e. Business Continuity Plans, Policies, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to tailor technical matters to respective audiences
- Proficiency with a Microsoft 365 Environment, including Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and other relevant tools
