Job description

Special Projects Associate

Full-time; Remote; Exempt

About Rewiring America

Rewiring America is the leading electrification nonprofit, focused on electrifying our homes, businesses, and communities. We develop accessible, actionable data and tools, and build coalitions and partnerships to make going electric easier for households and communities. Rewiring America helps Americans save money, tackle nationwide emissions goals, improve health, and build the next generation of the clean energy workforce. We believe in an abundant, flourishing, climate-safe future, and know that, together, we can realize one.

Position Summary

We are growing our team and seeking an entrepreneurial Associate to join our Special Projects Team. This position reports to the VP of Research & Special Projects.

In this newly created position, the Special Projects Associate is principally responsible for supporting a wide range of projects that have the potential to dramatically improve the speed and scale of building electrification, both domestically and internationally.  Within the Rewiring America organization, Special Projects are opportunistic, high risk / high reward, and occasionally bootstrapped efforts to explore emergent opportunities to disrupt the status quo.

Success on the Special Projects team requires a deep understanding of the core mission and programs of the organization, deep engagement with colleagues to identify implicit and explicit boundaries of our current project portfolio, and a willingness to push those boundaries and pursue opportunities while staying true to the organization’s mission.  A successful candidate will be a self-starter and will bring a penchant for creative problem-solving, well-established data analysis (both quantitative and qualitative) skills, and excellent communication abilities.  The Special Projects team is closely tied to the Research and Implementation Learning functions within the organization, and the Associate will be expected to collaborate extensively with those teams on the ongoing effort towards building and expanding our electrification evidence base.

What You’ll Do

Your day-to-day work will, at the outset, support ongoing Special Projects that aim to expand the reach of the Electrify Everything agenda to new audiences around the world. Projects will include:

  • Collecting and analyzing macroeconomic and policy data to inform a global strategy that will advance electrification as a cornerstone of national climate policy.
  • Preparing accessible and actionable content for technical and policy presentations, articles, reports, and social media that make the case for progress and inspire national audiences to action.
  • Informing the development of tools and resources that help stakeholders visualize and understand the value of electrification, in close collaboration with our Research, Data Science and Product teams.
  • Identifying new topics for exploration and collaborating with colleagues from across the organization to build momentum for new Special Projects.

Alongside this core work, you will:

  • Build your working knowledge of the broad set of technical, policy, social, and economic benefits of and barriers to electrification, while developing expertise in selected areas of interest.
  • Provide analytical support to internal stakeholders, including the Policy Team, the Communities Team, and the Communications Team, to build a deep understanding of Rewiring America’s strategy and its implementation.
  • Center equity in your work and collaborate with internal experts to understand and internalize the needs of the communities we serve.
