Job description

At Plum, we're on a mission to maximise wealth for all. We’re making saving money effortless and turning investing into something everyone can do. Our journey began back in 2017 when we became one of the first to use artificial intelligence and automation to simplify personal finance. Fast forward to today, and we've already helped people save £2 billion across 10 European markets.

Named the UK's fastest-growing fintech in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50, our success is down to the passion and dedication of our diverse team. Based in our London, Athens, and Nicosia offices, 170 talented people work together to empower people to do more with their money. And now, the team is growing!

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the Payments Squad in our Athens office. You’ll be expected to deeply understand the payments landscape, regulatory challenges, and the operational needs of our users to ensure smooth, secure, and compliant transactions as they build their wealth.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing our payment processing infrastructure, and ensuring our treasury functions—including how we hold and move funds—operate efficiently and effectively. You'll be a vital part of the Product team, working closely with data, engineering, design, operations, and compliance teams.

In this role you will: 🙌

  • Lead the Payments Squad at Plum, driving the development and optimisation of our payment systems, including and not limited to Direct Debit and VRP, Faster Payments, SEPA Instant and Card Payments.
  • Manage the treasury processes related to fund holding and movement, ensuring smooth and secure transactions while minimising risk.
  • Oversee the entire payment lifecycle, from customer payment initiation to settlement, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, data, and compliance teams to enhance payment security, reduce payment failures, and optimise user experience.
  • Consistently identify new opportunities to improve and innovate within the payments ecosystem, ensuring Plum remains competitive and compliant across multiple markets.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer payment behaviour, and continuously improve our payment offerings to meet user needs and industry standards.
  • Drive the planning process and roadmap prioritisation for your team, aligning with Plum’s overall OKRs.
  • Work closely with Group PM and other PMs to define and construct a long-term strategy for payments and treasury operations across Plum’s products.

Ideally, you are someone who:

  • Has proven experience managing payment schemes in the UK and/or Europe, particularly within a fast-growing fintech or financial institution.
  • Has hands-on experience with payment schemes like Direct Debit, Faster Payments, SEPA Instant, Card Payments, and also treasury management for fund holding and movement.
  • Can manage a team of engineers and effectively communicate payments-related requirements and challenges.
  • Is fluent with data, able to ground your decisions in analysis, and constantly drive actionable insights from numbers.
  • Thinks critically and can challenge the status quo, possessing the resilience to improve our payment processes and compliance measures.
  • Is comfortable with ambiguity, a fast learner who is humble, curious, and enjoys developing yourself and those you work with.
  • Has a deep understanding of payments regulations and can keep up to date with industry trends and standards.
  • Can inspire and mentor product managers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
