Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is a ‘hands-on’ contributor responsible for providing expertise in financial, project accounting, accounting services, and implementing company finance policy. The position is actively managing a team of accountants all daily operations and activities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage, train, and supervise team members in internal controls related to Financial Reporting, IFRS, and the SICK Group Accounting Manual. Supervise and build a strong accounting team to fit the needs of our growing company.
- Oversee, manage, and actively support the general ledger and tax accounting functions for SICK USA and SICK Canada (PCA, GUS, and SCA).
- Manage the internal financial reporting process to facilitate month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements. Provide ad hoc financial reports or related support as needed.
- Monitor and develop internal controls to minimize financial risk and identify areas of opportunity to better safeguard assets.
- Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on financial issues, including tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
- Manage the calendar of reporting events, both internal and external, including financial statement submission, tax filings, cash forecasting activities, and all census related submissions.
- Identify, track, and report any potential financial risks or issues, and work closely with the accounting teams to implement appropriate solutions.
- Manage and oversee the filing of regular tax returns, including income tax, sales, property, PST, HST, GST and other direct or indirect taxes.
- Act as an approver of bank transactions.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned or required by management.
Qualifications
- Experience: 7+ years of professional experience in Finance and Accounting; 3+ years of supervisory or managerial experience.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
- Certifications: CPA preferred, but not required.
- Position-specific Qualifications: Comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards; Experience with Financial Accounting, Project Accounting, AP, AR, Fixed Asset and Lease Management, Inventory Accounting; Experience working with corporate senior management possessing a respected competence in all things financial; Team/Project leadership experience; Good verbal and written communication skills; Managerial skills; Organizational skill to identify priorities and meet deadlines, and computer skills in identifying flow of transactions.
- Computer/Technological: Professional competence with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint Access), previous CRM usage (Microsoft Dynamics), proficiency in SAP.
- Language: Professional written and spoken fluency in English required.
- Schedule: Generally Monday to Friday, full time; be on-call on some weekends (if required).
- General Working Conditions: Be able to usually work in an office environment; flexible (hybrid) work arrangements available.
- Travel: Be able to travel up to 10% of the time, including internationally; must have a valid passport.
- Physical Demands: General office environment space and exposure.
- Work Status: Legally permitted to work in the country you are applying and willing to undergo an employment background check.
