Job description

Your mission
mama health is a real-world evidence platform - using AI and data mining technology to systematically map the end-to-end experience of chronic patients. Today, no physician, researcher, pharmaceutical company or government can accurately monitor what happens to patients along their care path. They rely on theoretical protocols (what should happen) but they do not have tools to monitor the reality (what actually happens). We bridge this gap, providing a clear view into the actual journey of chronic patients and ultimately improve their lives.
Your profile
Job Description:
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in data architecture, engineering, and analytical skills to design and build scalable data pipelines, ensuring efficient access to high-quality data. You will analyze complex datasets to support business intelligence, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize data workflows. By working closely with stakeholders, you will identify opportunities to leverage data to drive business solutions and improve patient outcomes. Your technical and analytical skills will be critical in driving innovation and the continuous evolution of our data ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
•    Design, build, and implement scalable data pipelines and data infrastructure to support robust data analysis and real-time decision systems.
•    Apply advanced data engineering techniques to integrate complex data sets and optimize data workflows for efficiency and performance.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data insights into actionable strategies that drive business impact.
•    Develop and maintain monitoring systems to ensure data pipeline reliability, quality, and performance.
•    Extract structured information from unstructured data sources, including free text, to enable better analysis and insights.
•    Analyze and extract actionable insights from large datasets to support business intelligence and drive strategic decisions.
•    Work closely with product development teams to incorporate data-driven solutions into our product offerings.
•    Communicate complex technical solutions, data models, and analysis to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and actionable way.
•    Thrive in a fast-paced, iterative startup environment, balancing quick execution with the ability to pivot when needed.
•    Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.

Requirements:
    •    Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
    •    5+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role, with a proven track record of designing and building scalable data infrastructure and pipelines.
    •    Proficiency in writing production-level code in Python, with experience in other programming languages like Java or Scala being a plus.
    •    Strong experience with SQL, database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
    •    Deep understanding of ETL processes and tools (AWS, Glue Jobs, S3) with experience in building robust data pipelines.
    •    Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
    •    Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or Airflow.
    •    Ability to analyze and extract insights from large datasets using data querying tools (e.g., SQL, Python).
    •    Experience with monitoring and maintaining data pipeline performance and ensuring data quality and integrity.
    •    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex data engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
