Job description

Trainee Account Manager – Recruitment

2-3 hours per day. £15 per hour

Are you looking for a job you can fit in around other commitments?

One where you will learn new skills, and get real job satisfaction?

Please read the whole advert to make sure this job is for you, and to understand the hiring process!

In this job, you will be working as an Account Manager for our ‘Embedded Hiring Partner’ business.  What this means is that you will be working closely with small businesses, helping them hire the people they need to achieve their goals.

The job is a unique combination of PA, Administrator, Marketing, HR Executive, and Project Manager. It’s a job that carries great responsibility as our customers can’t reach their objectives without hiring the right people. Unlike a ‘traditional’ recruitment business, we work in true partnership with our customers, so you get a real sense of pride as you see your work directly impact their business success.

You will be working 2-3 hours a day and can work from home most of the time, but we will need you to be working in the office with us 1 day a week (Chandler’s Ford) to make sure you’re learning and getting the necessary support.  This means you must already be fully eligible to work in the UK, and need to be able to get to Chandler’s Ford easily.

We’re a startup, and you will get the chance to increase your hours as our business grows, and as you gain experience.

You don’t need to have previous experience in recruitment to be successful in this role as we will train you in all the necessary areas.  Instead, you need to have these skills: -

Emotional intelligence and empathy

Hiring is a complex process with many different people involved.  We need to balance the needs of our customers whilst ensuring all job applicants are treated respectfully and fairly.

This means you are constantly communicating with a variety of people, needing to understand their viewpoints and communicating with them in a sympathetic way.

Written and verbal communication skills

You will be dealing with sensitive information and situations, and need to communicate with customers, colleagues, and job applicants in a clear and sympathetic manner.

You need to ensure clarity throughout the process, leaving nobody guessing about what the situation is and what needs to be done next.

Listening and questioning skills

Our job is to understand situations, and you can only do this by being inquisitive.  Asking good questions and listening to the answers is critical to how we achieve success.

Pride in your work

‘Attention to detail’ is a cliché in job descriptions, but it’s absolutely critical in this job.

You need to be the sort of person who can’t leave things unfinished - whether that’s communicating with multiple stakeholders to close off the last few job applications, or paying the same attention to the 400th person in a LinkedIn search as you did to the first person.

It’s this care and attention that sets Cohort apart. We hold ourselves to a high standard and really care about getting the job done.

IT skills

You will be spending a lot of time working on a computer, doing things like searching databases for candidates, writing emails, producing documents, and taking notes.  You need to be able to do this quickly and accurately, and be confident learning how to use new systems.

What you will actually be doing

We act as a ‘pay-as-you-go’ hiring team for small businesses.  In this role, you will be responsible for running the recruitment process from beginning to end for one or more small businesses.

You will be trained in all areas where you don’t have experience, so the below is just to give you an overview of the day-to-day job.

This involves the following: -

  • Market research
  • Writing job adverts
  • Advertising jobs on various platforms
  • Filtering job applications against requirements
  • Searching for suitable candidates on various websites
  • Sending emails to reject unsuitable applicants
  • Arranging and conducting telephone interviews
