Social Sustainability - Stakeholder Engagement: Managing Consultant

We are looking for a purpose driven and self-starting individual to join our growing Social Sustainability team at Managing Consultant level (in between Senior and Principal levels). Our team is concerned with how the transition to a low carbon future impacts society and how society is consulted on the activities that impacts them. We explore themes such as climate justice, just transition, economic restructuring, equity, social license to operate, social performance, social value and social investment.  

We work across a wide variety of sectors including renewables, tech, transport, finance, and government organisations. Examples of our diverse clients include SSE, RWE, World Bank, Google, Microsoft, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), Equinor,  HS2 Ltd and Shell.  

You will be responsible for working with the world’s leading organisations on the delivery of large complex projects and initiatives. As part of ERM’s Capital Project Delivery team, your daily responsibilities will include designing and undertaking programmes of stakeholder engagement and consultation for capital projects, informing environmental/social impact assessments (UK and Internationally) and providing advisory support to delivering social value and social performance. The role will also include Project Management, report preparation and support in proposal writing and client business development. This role offers a unique opportunity to be involved in innovative and exciting projects that ERM is currently working on.

About you

• Degree qualified in a relevant discipline
• Experience working in a Consultancy environment
• Experience working on infrastructure projects
• Strong project management experience including management of scopes of work and budgets
• Knowledge and experience of UK planning and consenting regimes e.g. TCPA and DCO
• Experience and interest in stakeholder engagement, consultation and communications
• Excellent report writing, analytical and inter-personal skills with diligent attention to detail
• Knowledge of the UN Guiding Principles, OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, World Bank, IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles is desirable
• Fluent in spoken and written English – additional language skills would be advantageous
