We are looking for a Project Manager, Estimating to lead and enhance organizational project management, estimating, and proposal development. This role will focus on creating and refining processes, standards, and key performance metrics, as well as overseeing reporting. You will manage and maintain ENMAX Power’s estimating and proposal repository, providing analysis and reporting on historical data to support both new and existing business lines within EPC.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of the proposal development and estimating functions within EPS including the development and maintenance of estimating repository within InEight estimating software

  • Establish and administer governance for determining bid/no-bid decisions on new and existing business opportunities based on an in-depth understanding of the organization’s cost structure, past performance and capabilities.

  • Analyze contract documents and specifications to determine overall project requirements and identify any associated risk factors

  • Lead discussions with cross-functional subject matter experts, including Field, Design, Project Management and Business Controls and include outside suppliers in order to complete the estimate.

  • Develop and own construction estimating process and procedures.

  • Train and mentor users on the ‘InEight’ estimating software.

  • Mentoring of estimators and cross-functional staff in construction estimating.

  • Collaborate with leaders and subject matter experts to develop strategic plans for improving both estimating and execution of construction projects.

  • Apply and promote AACE principles and best practice to estimate development and contingency planning.

  • Providing advice and support on the organization’s cost structure, past performance and capabilities.

  • Delivers project estimates based on cost, schedule, quality, and EHS objectives.

  • Assist with administering and ensuring the use of estimating processes, procedures, tools, and templates.

  • Assembling and engaging cross-functional teams or internal and external resources to develop proposals and estimates.

  • Work independently and with management to define project scope requirements, tasks, timelines and costs.

Education Required:

  • University degree – preferably in engineering, business or project management

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Over 15 years of experience in construction projects including scheduling, estimating, controls preferably experience with Civil, Distribution/Transmission projects.

  • Expertise using InEight Estimating & Control software

  • Experience with Primavera P6

  • Previous demonstrated leadership ability and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience applying AACE principles. 

  • Experience administering Total Installed Cost estimates, Compatible Units/Standard Activities/Task Units and developing Compatible Unit Estimates.

Location:  This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
