The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a dedicated Pricing Analyst III (Entry Level) to participate in Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) Fellowship Cohort 25-1 with USAA. The HOH Fellowship Program builds an extraordinary experience for transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses that increase competitiveness and improve opportunities to find meaningful employment by providing development, skills, and exposure to corporate working environment and private sector business operations. HOH Fellowship Programs are best-in-class workforce development programs that are cohort based and twelve weeks in duration.

As a participant in the Military Fellowship Program, we understand that in most cases Fellows are ending their active service commitments and actively relocating. Therefore, while participating in the Fellowship program, Fellows are authorized to work remotely. If selected for full time employment, we offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

As a member on this new team, you will be play a key role in shaping the future of analytics, developing modernized tools, and enhancing reporting and communication for our Renters and Specialty lines pricing. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation and strategy for these quickly growing lines of business. You may also perform basic to intermediate analysis to support pricing, reserving, product development, and financial management.

The Opportunity

What you'll do:

  • Acquire and apply foundational knowledge of the business, its applications, and processes.
  • Use actuarial tools and modeling software for pricing, valuation, and/or risk management.
  • Enter data and tables, runs models, and generates reports.
  • May make adjustments and improvements to models, when appropriate.
  • Analyze industry and location specific trends and regulatory/legislative activity to identify impact on financials, reserves, and pricing processes.
  • Identify critical experience areas to monitor and suggest timely remedies to correct or prevent unfavorable trends.
  • Identify sources of gain and loss by product and assumption.
  • Test pricing assumptions and the appropriate premiums, interests margins, reserves, and cash values for new products.
  • Receive guidance from team members to resolve issues and identify appropriate issues for escalation.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a Degree .
  • Up to 2 years relevant business and/or general analysis working experience
  • Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Foundational knowledge of relevant data analysis tools
  • Foundational knowledge of relevant data extraction tools
  • Successful completion of an analyst assessment may be required

What sets you apart:

  • Current participant in the Hiring Our Heroes Fellowship Programs listed: Cohort 25-1 Fellowship OR a current contractor at USAA from 24-3 HOH Non-direct cohort
  • Knowledge and experience with Excel and at least one programming language or modeling software package (Python, SQL, R, SAS, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience aggregating and analyzing data to solve problems
  • Experience with problem-solving, innovation, and process improvement
  • Ability to effectively communicate insights and solutions to broad audiences including actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders
  • Specialty or personal lines experience

What we offer:

Hiring Our Heroes Fellows are paid by the HOH program.

If selected for a full-time role, USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The hiring range for this position is: $48,890 - $87,600.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
