Allianz have an exciting opportunity to join our Commercial Underwriting team as a Senior Underwriter for the Allianz Farm Product. This position would suit somebody who thrives in delivering a market leading customer experience. In this role you will be responsible for providing a high level of underwriting service to our Broker partners in NSW/ACT, and nationally where required, working collaboratively with our broader underwriting and distribution teams to ensure appropriate underwriting decisions are made and our customers are put at the heart of our decision-making.

 

You'll be responsible for

  • Providing and securing more complex New Business and Renewals and providing technical support, coaching and leadership to the region underwriters and the broader Underwriting team.

  • Taking Technical/Underwriting ownership of New Business prospecting and pipelining and manage more complex renewal processes.

  • Leading and coaching team members to develop capability and to build high performing, collaborative and engaged teams.

  • Managing workflows for Complex Accounts, such as New Business, Policy Maintenance and Renewals, to ensure delivery of quality service standards.

  • Ensuring business bound is aligned with divisional objectives and portfolio balance (growth and profit).

  • Identifying profitable new business opportunities and maximising conversion/strike rate of desired business.

  • Maximising retention of preferred accounts and reviewing renewal and new business and planning negotiations with Distribution and other Underwriting staff.

  • Conducting ongoing market intelligence gathering through liaison with Brokers, reviewing data and assessing risk.

  • Underwriting insurance risks in area of responsibility, adhering to underwriting guidelines and standards.

 

About you 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and industry accreditations, where necessary.

  • Extensive experience in a commercial underwriting role (Farm experience is desirable) in a general insurance organisation with a detailed understanding of account and reinsurance structures. Previous experience in Underwriting/Client management at an insurer or a broker is highly desired.

  • Adept at proactively building and maintaining professional relationships and networks to enhance industry positioning, exchange knowledge and elicit beneficial outcomes.

  • Deep understanding of relevant regulatory and/or legislative compliance requirements that impact the organisation.

  • Proven analytical and critical thinking capability to interpret a range of data, identify patterns, trends and links that inform judgments and solutions.

  • Pays high attention to detail by completing tasks with thoroughness and accuracy and has the ability to quickly identify errors or inconsistencies within information.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with clarity, impact and influence.
