Title: Senior Associate, Data Engineering (P2)
Location: Remote US
Reports To: Director - Data Engineering
The Role:
J.D. Power is looking for a senior associate in data engineering with good quantitative and analytical skills. Our ideal candidate is determined to use their skills to perform in basic data connection, joining, and exploring data, build basic data pipelines under supervision, execute repetitive production data operation tasks and do basic QA. You’ll primarily focus on production outputs of established products and processes and collaborate with coworkers to understand data processing requirements and apply fundamental data engineering concepts.
The Impact You Will Have in This Role:
We make data products that solve problems for the auto industry. Every data engineer will work on projects that go into production and directly impact new and existing products.
What You'll Be Doing in This Role:
- Daily immersion in automotive industry data
- Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
- Exercise judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
- Involve basic data processing and cleaning tasks
- Focus on foundational skills development in data operations
- Build productive internal/external working relationships
Qualifications of this Role:
- Basic understanding of data cleaning and quality assurance techniques
- Familiarity with SAS, SQL, or basic data manipulation in Python, PySpark and R
- Exposure to basic data joining and pipeline building concepts including tools like GCP dataflow & Palantir
- Knowledge of basic Big Data technologies
- Basic knowledge of Excel for data processing tasks
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of statistical analysis is desired
- Ability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Resilient work ethic
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or an advanced degree without experience, or equivalent work experience
