Implementation Project Manager - Public Sector-1099/Contract

This is a 1099/Contract role.
Position Overview
  
The Project Manager (PM) serve as a client advocate to work collaboratively with the integration service provider PM to help lead the ERP system implementation.  Overall, the PM will assist with, or evaluate, project goals, objectives, project management guidelines, project standards, project scope, risk identification and mitigation, quality management, project budget, reporting and documentation. The PM will confirm or assess that client staff and contracted resources are leveraged effectively across the project.  The PM will review and recommend approval of project deliverables. Finally, the PM is responsible for reviewing and reporting on the project work plan, monitoring activities of the services vendor team, timelines, and risks, and has overall responsibility for managing or reporting on status of project activities, milestones, and deliverables.
Responsibilities
  • General
    • Oversee project delivery
    • Monitoring that the project is effectively resourced and manages relationships with a wide range of groups
  • Implementation
    • Checking that all required project management documents are developed, completed and signed off at the appropriate review gate
    • Ensuring that all written deliverables provided by the Vendor Implementation Project Manager are stored in the appropriate network folders and archived as necessary
    • Drafting, reviewing and recommending approval of deliverables
    • Holding Implementation Vendor Implementation Project Manager accountable through oversight and reporting for completing the Implementation Project on time, within scope, within budget and according to the required quality standard (with agreed specifications)
    • Managing project change request process and facilitate the approval process for requests submitted by the Vendor Implementation Project Manager
    • Monitoring potential Implementation project risks, opportunities, and issues that may impact the project
    • Facilitating issue resolution risk management with input from the State Project Managers
    • Reporting project progress, budget and status to the appropriate levels (e.g., Executive Sponsor, Executive Council, Steering Committee) and recommending corrective action when necessary
    • Reviewing the detailed Project Plan and supporting tracking schedules on an ongoing basis and documenting noted issues and concerns with project progress in accordance with the Project Plan
    • Providing independent management on behalf of the client for the ERP implementation project
Required Skillsets
  • This is a remote position based in the US with up to 50% travel
  • 10+years recent experience with managing large, complex ERP projects, SaaS preferred
  • Ability to provide high level expertise across a broad range of business and IT related subject matter areas
  • Experience working with various IT industry standards (i.e., ITIL, COBIT, CMMI)
  • Experience negotiating and managing software and services contracts
  • Experience managing large IT budgets
  • Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy to understand business terms to all levels of management including senior leaders
  • Possesses strong analytical, organizational, team, and task management skills
  • Ability to make decisions at the project team level and properly escalate those decisions that cannot be resolved on a timely basis
  • Experience with one or more of the following functional areas:  Financial Management, Purchasing or HR/Payroll/Talent Management
  • Demonstrates working knowledge with MS-Office suite of software applications and tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, MS-Outlook, MS Project
Education
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in a technical or scientific field
  • MBA or other advanced degree(s) desirable
  • PMP preferred
